Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Garnavillo. Mr. Ackley worked at Products Unlimited as a machinist for many years. He was born on May 27, 1921, in New Hampton, son of Frank and Lottie (Wesp) Ackley. He married Shirley Philp on May 26, 1945, in Vero Beach, Fla. He graduated from Fredricksburg High School and was a World War II Navy veteran. Surviving are his wife, Shirley Ackley; four daughters, Sue (David) Schmitt, of Dubuque, Robyn (Tom) Stanfield, of Etowah, Tenn., Cindy Ackley (Doug Brodman), of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Jamie (George) Ackley-Baker, of West Burlington; three sons, Gary (Rusty) Duenow, of Cedar Rapids, Terry (Arlene) Ackley and Rick (Dianne) Ackley, both of Dubuque; 18 grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; a sister, Helen Templeton, of Quincy, Ill.; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Eric; his parents; and a sister, Nellie Duenow.
He was buried on 27 Nov 1995 in Guttenberg, Clayton, Iowa.³²⁷ His Social Security Number was 482-14-6582 IA.¹⁵⁴ He served in the military WW II in the US Navy.⁸³
