Born in Clarkesville, Ga., she was a daughter of the late Corbin Benfield and Lavonia Frady Benfield. Mrs. Adams was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Bishopville. She was a retired certified medical records technician. Survivors besides her husband of Bishopville include a son, Glynn Benfield Atkinson of Darlington County; three brothers, Corbin Benfield of Brunswick, Ga., Ray Benfield of Westminster and Roy Benfield of Mount Airy, Ga.; two stepdaughters, Jackie Lawhon of Tallahassee, Fla., and Pattie Baker of Charleston; two grandchildren, Michael Atkinson and Jonathan Atkinson; and three step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Wayne Atkinson. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Bethlehem United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mark Jones officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Hancock-Elmore-Hill Funeral Home, and at other times at the home, 1941 Camden Highway, Bishopville. Memorials may be made to Bethlehem United Methodist Church. Hancock-Elmore-Hill Funeral Home of Bishopville is in charge of arrangements.
