AUBURN - Elmer C. Ackley, 78, died Friday at the Western Reserve
Extended Care facility in Kirtland after a short illness.
Born July 5, 1906, in Cleveland, Mr. Ackley lived the past 49 years in
Auburn.
He was the founder and co-owner from 1930 to 1956 of Parkwood Storage and
Battery Co. in Cleveland, and was a shipping clerk for Speed-Selector of
Chagrin Falls for 15 years until his retirement in 1971.
Mr. Ackley was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
Survivors include his wife Anne; two daughters, Mrs. Rolland (Anne)
LaRue of Auburn and Mrs. James (Janet) Rayl of Chardon; six grandchildren;
and one great granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.
Service is 9 p.m. Monday at the Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St.,
Chardon. Pastor Robert Penrod of the Pilgrim Christian Church of Chardon
will be officiating.
Visiting hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Burial will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Shadyside Cemetery in Auburn.

, Ohio Funeral services for Anne (Lada) Ackley, 93, of Auburn Corners,
a homemaker, will be held 10 a.m. Monday at the Burr Funeral Home, 116 South
St., (Route 44, 500 ft. south of Route 6/Chardon Square), in Chardon.
Mrs. Ackley died Sept. 16, 2003, at Geauga Regional Hospital in Claridon Township.
Born March 27, 1910, in Torda, Romania, she came to Cleveland from Romania in
1914, and moved to the Auburn Township area in 1936.
She enjoyed sewing, knitting, cooking and reading Gourmet Magazine. She loved
animals and lived on a farm raising cows, goats, and horses.
Survivors are her daughters, Anne (Rolland) LaRue of Auburn Corners, and Janet
(Jim) Rayl of Mentor-on-the-Lake; grandchildren, Patsy (Brian) Grecar of Auburn
Township, Lawrence (Diane) Rayl of McKinney, Texas, Stuart (Marcia) Rayl of Chardon
Township, Kenneth (Tina) Rayl of Cincinnati, Lance (Christine) LaRue of Panama
City Beach, Fla., and Daniel (Kim) Rayl of Mentor; and great grandchildren, Tiffany,
Christine, Stuart A., Jessica, Joseph, Aleesha, Travis, Alex, Emily, and Elizabeth.
Her husband, Elmer Charles Ackley, whom she married June 11, 1932, in Cleveland,
died March 8, 1985. Her brothers, Alex Lada and Lewis Butler, are also deceased.
Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. The Rev. Robert D. Penrod
of the Pilgrim Christian Church in Chardon will officiate the services. Burial
will be in Shadyside Cemetery in Auburn Corners.
