Jack Edwood ACKLEY and Jean F FIKE were married.²⁸ Jean F FIKE (daughter of Living and Living) was born on 12 Sep 1930 in Lawrenceburg, Lawrence, Tennessee.^10,14 Her Obituary appeared in the Palatka Daily News in Sep 2003 in Palatka, Putnam, Florida Jean F. (Carlson) Ackley, 73, died Thursday, September 18, 2003 at her home in St. Augustine following an extended illness with cancer.
Born in Lawrenceburg, Tenn., she was formerly of Talladega, Ala. She taught in the Alabama School System for 34 years, teaching at the Alabama Institute for the Deaf and Blind, serving at Alabama School of Blind from 1966-1994. Jean was a member of Anastasia Baptist Church in St. Augustine.
She is preceded in death by her parents: James Edgar Fike and Mabel Ann McElroy; and a son: Jerry Wayne Pressley.
Survivors are her husband: Jack E. Ackley, St. Augustine; brothers: James H. Fike, Anniston, Ala.; Jerry R. Fike, LeHigh Acres; sons: Alan Pressley, Newburgh, Ind.; John Pressley, Talladega, Ala.; Larry Pressley, Newburgh, Ind.; Ronald Pressley, Newburgh, Ind.; mother-in-law: Jeanette M. Ackley, Palatka; stepdaughters: Stacey Lee Lloyd, Tennessee; Rose Marie Hilliard, Interlachen; and many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Community Hospital of Northeast Florida, Inc., 4266 Sunbeam Rd., Jacksonville, FL 32257.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. CST, Wednesday, Sept. 24 at the Usrey Brown-Service Funeral Home of Talladega, Ala.
Interment will follow in Pine Hill Memorial Park in Talladega.
Kotrady-Hudgins-Croyle Funeral Home, St. Augustine is in charge of local arrangements.
