SMYTHE Madge A. Smythe, 84, south Kansas City, died Aug.20, 1991, at Saint Joseph Health Center. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and moved to this area in 1969. Mrs. Smythe was a psychologist for the Jackson County Juvenile Court from 1969 until she retired in 1979. She directed psychological testing at the Hilltop and McCune schools. She was a certified school psychologist at grade schools and high schools in the Cleveland area from 1935 to 1954 and for the Cleveland School District from 1954 to 1969. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and maintained the sanctuary flowers there for 20 years. She formerly led classes at the Cleveland Art Institute and the Cleveland Museum of Art. She received a bachelor's degree in psychology from Case Western Reserve University. Cleveland, in 1933, and a master9s degree in psychology from John Carroll University. Cleveland, in 1954. She did doctorate work at the University of Kansas Medical Center. Her husband, Alex Smythe, died in 1937. Survivors include a daughter, Madge L. Hanrahan, Kansas City; a brother, George Ackley, Cleaveland; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the church; burial in the Saugatuck (Mich.) City Cemetery Annex. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the McGilley Midtown Chapel, where the rosary will be said at 8:30 p.m. The family suggests contributions for Masses. She was buried in City Cemetery, Saugatuck, Macomb , Michigan.¹⁵ She appeared in the census 1910, 1920 & 1930 in Ohio. Her Social Security Number was 271-32-5283 OH.¹¹
