Ackley, told me that her father, William Case, used to play the fiddle in local
pubs, in the Portland/Middletown area, accompanied by a woman who played piano.
Leora recalled as a child being placed upon a pickle barrel in the pub and watching
her father play. She said William fell off a porch on slippery ice in 1910 and
died from the injury.
