HOME INMATE DIES IN RESERVOIR
Coroner Declares Case Is Suicide Due to Melancholia
The body of Horace Ackley, 53 a resident of the Onondaga County Home since
1931, was found floating in the little reservoir there this morning about 50
feet from the shore line. Coroner William R Winne, who was called to investigate,
declared the drowning a suicide, caused probably by melancholia.
Ackley, who gave no reference when he entered the home, had been missing since
early last night, and attendants at the home knew of no one whom he might be
visiting.
He was seriously ill when he came to the home, but had recovered somewhat
in the last three years and was able to get about by himself, attendants said.
A post card from Sequott addressed to Ackley gave morgue attendants a clue
that he might have has relatives in that village. The body was taken to the
morgue. He appeared in the census 1900, 1920 & 1930 in New York. | +3941 | vi. | Ada M ACKLEY
