Addison , Vermont ADDISON - Dorothy Gertrude Condict Rogers, 97,
of Lake Street, Addison, died Dec. 3, 2000, at Porter Hospital after a short
illness. She was the widow of Russell Rogers, who died in Dec. 1977, and the
mother of Judith Louise Rogers of Addison.
She was the daughter of Caroline Porter Ackley and Arthur Winds Condict, born
in Dover, N.J., on Nov. 28, 1903, and graduated from Trenton Normal School in
1921. She married Russell on Sept. 17, 1927, and worked as an occupational therapist
at the New Jersey State Hospital.
The family moved to Vermont with Mr. Russell's employment at Simmond's Precision
in Vergennes.
Their joy of people was evident in their involvement with Pine Crest Cottages
in Panton and guests in their home on Lake Street. Her special activities were
ice fishing on Lake Champlain in winter and gardening in summer. She became an
avid Red Sox fan in her later years.
She was one of the organizing members of General John Strong Chapter of Daughters
of the American Revolution. During the past six years she and her birds have
enjoyed residing in Forest Dale with Valerie Knapp and Roger Munger, home care
providers and special friends.
She was predeceased by three sisters, Carroll, Rachael and Lucy.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday in Vergennes. Interment was in Lake View
Cemetery in West Addison.
Contributions may be for a memorial tree, which will be planted on the Roger's
property. Leftover funds will go to the Addison County Humane Society. Mail donations
