CORTLAND - Said to be in serious condition at Cortland Memorial Hospital is George W. Ackley, 42 of 229 Main St., who was injured yesterday morning while at work in Wickwire Bros, Plant. Ackley suffered internal injuries when he was pinned between a gantry crane on which he was working and a beam. CORTLAND- George W Ackley, 43, of 229 S. Main St., died late Saturday night at Cortland Memorial Hospital, as a result of internal injuries suffered Friday morning at the Wickwire steel plant here where he was employed. Mr. Ackley, an electrician, who had been in the employ of Wickwire for 25 years was injured when he was pinned between a crane and a beam at the plant. He was born Nov. 18, 1912, at Cortland, son of George and Minnie Barden Ackley. He had been a life resident of Cortland. Mr. Ackley is survived by his mother, Mrs. Minnie Ackley of Cortland; one son, George W. Ackley, Jr.. of McGraw; two sisters, Mrs. R. W. Vining of Norwich Peoria, III. Funeral services will be at 4 p m. tomorrow at the Beard Memorial Home. Burial will be Cortland Rural Cemetery.
