CORTLAND - Shirley Baker, 69, of 2 Lebanon Drive died Sunday in Cortland Memorial Hospital. He was born in Ithaca to Raymond and Mary Ackley Baker. He was a rural mail carrier for 23 years and prior to that worked at Morse Chain in Ithaca for 17 years. He was a member of the National Letter Carriers Association. Surviving are his wife, the former Margaret Sherman of Cortland; a son, Alan of Cortland; two daughters, Alice Smith of Homer and Kathleen Smith of Cortland; three sisters, Mildred Cooper of Florida, Grace Knapp of Ithaca, and Edna Collier of Waverly; two brothers, Stanley and Lyle, both of Waverly; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Services will be tomorrow at 10 a.m. at H. Patrick McEvoy & Bush Funeral Home and 10:30 a.m at St. Mary's Church, Cortland. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
