Samuel Ackley, a pioneer of this county died at his home on Cowlitz Prairie, at 1:45 Tuesday morning, after an illness of several months.
Samuel Ackley was born in Genesee County, New York, on May 10, 1827. When he was five years old his parents moved to Michigan, In April, 1856 he married Miss Anna M. Clark at Chelsea, Michigan With his family he moved to Hillsboro, Oregon in 1871 where his wife died in 1876. In 1881 Mr. Ackley moved to this county and had since made this his home.
Deceased was the father of thirteen children, nine of whom are living, Mrs. McLeod, of Chehalis; Mrs. Freeman, of North Yakima; Mrs. Willis Champ, of Winlock; Miss Jennie and John Ackley, of Cowlitz; Joe Ackley, of California; Geo. Ackley, of Drews Prairie; Byron Ackley, of Vance; and Rodney Ackley, of Mabton.
