Oliver Perry.
Oliver Perry a civil war veteran and member of the James Campbell Post died Thursday
night, March 1, aged 78 years. Mr. Perry had been in failing health fro some
time but death came suddenly after a few days illness. Mr. Perry is survived
by his wife and four children, Walter Perry, Mrs. Carrie Comstock, Mrs. Herbert
Hutchinson, and Mrs. Joseph Simmons, all of Alexandria Bay. Funeral services
will be held at the house Thursday at 10 o'clock, the American Legion attending
in a body. Rev. C. F. Benjamin officiating, and the interment was at Briar Hill.
Mr. Perry was born in Johnstown, N. Y., April' 1849,and at the age of 19 enlisted
in the 153rd N. Y. volunteers, served two years and was invalided home. In 1865
he married Mary Ackley of Johnstown and 40 years ago come to Alexandria Bay where
he has since resided.
Mr. Perry was a man of integrity, a good neighbor and friend and will be greatly
missed from the community in which he has so long resided. Mary ACKLEY and Oliver
