Ackley MIFFLINBURG — Emma S. Ackley, 62, of 227 1/2 Maple St., entered eternal rest at 7:55 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2005, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
She was born Jan. 17, 1943, in Selinsgrove, a daughter of the late Emory S. and Sarah C. Brubaker Scholl. On Dec. 23, 1967, in Lewisburg, she was united in marriage to Eugene C. Ackley, who survives.
Mrs. Ackley was employed by S.U.M. Child Development for 14 years as a cook and bus monitor. Earlier in life, she worked for the Evangelical Home, now RiverWoods for eight years and the Huntington Throwing Mill for several years.
She was the past president of Yoder-Zimmerman Post 1964, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Ladies Auxiliary and was the captain of its American Cancer Society Relay for Life team, The Australian Walkabouts.
She was a member of Assembly of God Church, Mifflinburg.
Emma enjoyed music, cooking, gardening, shooting pool, taking fishing trips with her husband and spending time with her family.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are one son and daughter-in-law, Eugene C. Ackley Jr. and Pamela T. of Millmont; one daughter and son-in-law, Deborah L. and Steven A. Kratzer of Middleburg; five grandchildren, Jacob R. and Wade D. Haury, Amanda L. Ackley, and Kaitlyn E. and Emili R. Kratzer; eight brothers and six sisters-in-law, Carl S. and Helen Scholl of Winfield, Roy Scholl of East Petersburg, Emory and Janet Scholl of Pittsburgh, Daniel and Mary Scholl of Beaver Springs, Paul and Janet Scholl of Middleburg, George and Donna Scholl of Middleburg, Pastor Leon and Sue Scholl of Mount Pleasant Mills, and James Scholl of Benton; five sisters and three brothers-in-law, C. Naomi and Carl Soloman and Darlene and Robert Gearhart, all of Mifflinburg, Julia Erb of Lancaster, Pearl Mull of Kreamer, and Miriam and Doug Smith of Smithville; one brother-in-law, Arthur Musser of Freeburg; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Merle Scholl, and one sister, Edith Musser.
Family and friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Schwartz-Adamo Funeral and Cremation Services, 247 Chestnut St., Mifflinburg, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at Assembly of God Church, 1001 Market St., Mifflinburg, where the funeral service will follow at 11 with Pastor Keith Bingaman, pastor of Assembly of God Church, and Pastor Leon Scholl officiating.
Burial will be in Hartleton Cemetery.
Donations in Emma's memory can be sent to the American Cancer Society, 1948 E. Third St., Williamsport, PA 17701.
