At Farm Work
William L Kerr, 41, of Dunns Station, R. D. 1, near Prosperity, died suddenly of a heart attack at 9 a. m. Wednesday, Sept. 9, 1953, while working on the farm of J. Elmer Andrew, near Prosperity. Kerr was found by Andrew and several other men who were also working in the corn field. Coroner L. C. Gray was summoned to conduct an investigation and death was attributed to natural causes. Kerr was regularly employed at a Washington glass plant for the last five years and was said to have been working on a part-time basis on the Andrew farm. He formerly worked at the Jessop Steel Company plant at Washington. Born in Jackson Township, Greene County, Dec. 26, 1911, he was a son of Edward Kerr, who survives, and the late Autey Bennett Kerr. All his life had been spent in Greene and Washington Counties. He was a member of the Enon Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Nora Ackley Kerr, whom he married in 1934; his father, and six children, Patricia, Verna May, Norma Jean, Mary Margaret, William Lewis, Jr., and Darlene Gail, all at home.
