His Social Security Number was 234-44-5698 WV.¹⁹³ James' aunt was Lucille Elizabeth (Ackley) Evans /Carroll who left him the old Joshua estate at her death. James died of a heart attack at home 19 September 1991. He left his estate to two cousins on his mother's side, named McCall um. Just two weeks later the contents were sold at auction and a short time later the house was sold.

After lucille's death, James sold the most priceless antiques and the Powder Horn of Daniel Ackley at an auction held in Waynesburg or Washington, PA. Lucille said she had told him to do this "To sell the house and its contents to someone who would want to establish a family-country home and a fine history for themselves."
The pigeonhole desk used by the family for the area post office was sold at that time, as well as corner cupboards, etc.
Many family treasures went to family members. Lucille had given the Coverlet Sarah Jane (Daniel's widow) brought with her from the east to her sister's children. "They have girls", she said.
