ACKLEY, PAUL F. Jr. Paul F. Ackley Jr., 56, of 330 Godsey Road, Bristol, TN,
died Thursday, April 1, 1999, in Wellmont Hospice House. He was a native of New
Jersey and moved to Bristol in 1980, after completing a 20-year military career.
He attended St. Joseph High School in Camden, NJ, and received his diploma from
the Army-Navy Academy in Carlsbad, CA. He attended Bristol College and Tri-City
Technical School. He was a retired chief petty officer with the U.S. Navy, and
a member of Fleet Reserve Association. Mr. Ackley was a member of St. Anne's
Catholic Church, and a 4th degree with the Knights of Columbus, Council 6695
of Bristol. He was employed with Sherwin Williams, Electro Mechanical Corporation,
and had maintenance contracts for several years at Virginia High, Virginia Junior
High, Dillard Paper Company, and St. Anne's Catholic Church and School. Survivors
include his wife, Helen Garland Ackley; two daughters, Bernadette Ackley of Douglasville,
GA, and Amber Jone of Wausau, WI; a son, Brian Ackley of Bristol TN; his mother,
Rita Hopkins Ackley of Westmont, NJ; seven sisters, Peggy Schenk of Mount Holly,
NJ, Sharon Lauther of Pine Hill, NJ, Mary Ann Quinlan of Marlton, NJ, and Kathleen
Ackley, Penny Ackley, Julie Ackley and Frances Chatelain, all of Westmont, NJ;
five brothers, Jimmy Ackley of Audobon, NJ, Dennis Ackley of Pennsauken, NJ,
Larry Ackley of Pitman, NJ Michael Ackley and Bernard Ackley, both of Westmont,
NJ; an aunt; and several nieces and nephews. Weaver Funeral Home is in charge.
