BOWDOINHAM — Mary Evelyn Heath Ackley Riske, 95, of Bay Road died Monday, Sept. 18, 2006, at Freeport Nursing Home. She was born in Bowdoinham on Oct. 28, 1910, the daughter of Andrew and Mary (Webber) Heath. She was a lifelong resident of Bowdoinham. In her early years, she delivered mail from the railroad depot to the Bowdoinham Post Office. Later on in her life, she was a social worker for the state of Maine, working in Bowdoinham and surrounding towns. She was active in the Bowdoinham Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary for many years, serving alongside her husband, George E. Ackley, who was Bowdoinham's fire chief for 18 years. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Electa Chapter No. 2 in Bowdoinham, serving in the position of Esther for many years. She was also a member of the Pythian Sisters, the Grange and the Second Baptist Church. She was also the recipient of the Boston Post Cane. She enjoyed being at home with family and friends. She was predeceased by her first husband, George E. Ackley; her second husband W. Almon Riske; and three brothers, Fred Heath, Frank Heath and Herbert Heath. She is survived by two sons, John Ackley and his wife, Marlene, of Bowdoinham and Robert Ackley and his wife, Anne, of Topsham; two nieces of Bowdoinham; a nephew of Litchfield; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. Family and friends are invited to visit on Wednesday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Kincer Funeral Home, 130 Pleasant St., Richmond. Funeral services will take place at 1 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Bayview Cemetery, Bowdoinham. Memorial donations may be made the Second Baptist Church, Main St., Bowdoinham, ME 04008; or the Salvation Army of your choice.
