The Vow

I was five

And he was six

The vow of love easy and fun.

Made in a closet

Between playful hearts

No thoughts of future actions.

I was ten

And he was eleven

The confusions of life harsh but real.

Spiteful words

From a crying heart

Left his wondering what happened.

I am fifteen

And he a year older

His company's the highlight of my day.

A yearning heart

For that not yet felt

Remembers a youthful vow.
