Warmth of Fire

Across the distance

Your pain

I can still feel

Even though we've only met through words.

My heart cries

As words

That you have written

Are displayed across my screen in black and white bluntness.

I am lost

Not knowing

How I could comfort

One with whom more than words are passed in blank silence.

So very close

Are we

That my fingers fail

When what they give are what you desire the most.

My best efforts

Naive fumblings

To try and comprehend

The magnitude of your loss when I have never so suffered.

I'm your fire

A beacon

Toward which you strive

A flame which shall forever burn as a reminder of my love.

Again I fail

To say

The things that press

Within my heart most strongly and cry to be set free.

Always my love

Shall reside

With in your reach

For those times when you shall so wish to be enfolded in love's pure flame.
