Aelish has shown us a new and interesting side to herself. She makes a great foster mom! So far she has "mothered" two dogs. One is Hadley, a boxer boy of about 10 months who was found as a stray in Hadley MA. He came to us knowing some basics, like being housebroken and sit, but not much else. While here he taught Aelish how to mouth wrestle (a very boxer way to play) and she taught him some manners around other dogs. Interestingly, both of them have natural tails and ears. Would you like to guess what it is like to get between these two when they were happy to see you? No? Good! Cuz it was painful! Apparently they have no sense of pain in their tails, at least not that I can tell.
In the top picture you can see Aelish cleaning eye gunk from Hadley's face, he came to us with kennel cough, which causes a dry cough, lots of junk in the eyes, nose and throat, and is very contagious. Aelish mothered him all the time, making him settle down if he seemed to be getting winded or tired. But also willing to play with him when he was feeling better.
After about six weeks in our house, Hadley went to a new home in Long Island NY where he has a new sister named Tasha. The two of them are very happy together. It is the right family for him. We are glad that he has is new sister and family to raise him.
