In the Darkness
Darkness wraps around me,
in the middle of the night,
its time to shut out the world,
and pretend, all will be right.
As the silence spins in my ears,
my thoughts of you take flight,
the pain of memories haunts me,
I have no strength to fight.
My love for has weakened me,
tortures me out right,
as minutes turn to hours,
waiting for day light.
I try to wash away your words,
clear you from my head,
the tears are cold and salty,
and wet my pillow spread.
I hear the ticking of clock,
sitting by my bed,
wondering how someone like me,
was so easily misled.
I trusted you  so completely,
the warnings I misread,
as your love deserted me,
I closed my eyes instead.
