ARBOGAST, MARLIN EUGENE - Marlin E. Arbogast, 82, of Millerstown RR2,
died at 9:15 a.m. Saturday, April 20, 1996, in
the emergency room of Sunbury Community Hospital after being stricken at
his home earlier
that morning. Born March 27, 1914, in Snyder County, he was the son
of the late Lee and
Lulu [Aucker] Arbogast. His wife, Beulah Mae [Lawver] Arbogast, whom he
married May 28,
1938, died June 23, 1991. Surviving are: children, Ronald R. Arbogast,
Millerstown RR2,
with whom he made his home, Terry R. Arbogast, Fredericksburg, PA, Loraine
J. Arbogast and
Irene D. Kline, both of Jonestown RR1; three grandchildren. He was
educated in the Cherry
Hill Grammar Schoolhouse, Juniata County. Along with his farming,
he was employed in his
early life by Pennsylvania Railroad at Enola yards as a laborer.
He was also employed for
ten years by Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, Juniata County,
retiring in 1971.
He attended Evangelical Methodist Church, Richfield and was a member of
Richfield Ambulance
League. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Evangelical
Methodist Church,
Richfield, with Rev. Kenneth E. Walter officiating. Interment will be in
St. Peter's
Cemetery, Monroe Township, Millerstown RR2. The George P. Garman
Funeral Home Inc., Mount
Pleasant Mills, is in charge of arrangements.

She was the last

of Richfield and the late C. Otto Brubaker. She married Harold A. Benner
March 25, 1951, She
graduated from Millerstown High School in 1948 and attended Susquehanna
University,
Selinsgrove. She was formerly employed as a teacher's aide for special
education in the St.
Albans [Vermont] School District and later at the Mollie Stark School,
Bennington, Vt. She
was a former resident of St. Albans and Bennington and while there was
active in the church
choir and Sunday school of Community Covenant Church, St. Albans, and Christian
Missionary
Church, Bennington. She was a member of Richfield Mennonite Church at the
time of her death.
Surviving, in addition to her husband and mother, are two sons and one
daughter, Michael A.
Benner of Mt. Pleasant Mills, Todd A. Benner of Bennington and Pamela J.
Cohen of Carmel, IN;
six grandchildren; and three sisters, Evelyn J. Heisey of Thompsontown,

she attended Lost Creek

Mt. Pleasant Mills, as a sewing machine operator until her retirement.

Friday, June 14, 1996, at his home. Born February
14, 1910, in Freeburg, he was the son of the late John and Cora [Kissinger]
Botdorf. He is
survived by his wife, Irene A. [Mengel] Botdorf, of Millerstown. Also surviving

He was a member of Highland United Presbyterian Church, Newport, and served
on the council of

Borough Council member, and owner of Botdorf Furniture and Electrical Store,

He was born May 28, 1911
in Shovel Lake, where he was raised and attended school. He served
in the U.S. Army during
World War II. He was married to Freda Marie Davidson June 4, 1945
at Brainerd, MN. They
lived at Shovel Lake until moving to Grand Rapids in 1979. His wife died
in 1991, and
following her death he moved to Harrisburg. Mr. Carlson worked many
years as a truck driver
in the road construction industry with Anderson Construction of Brainerd
and finally with
Hawkinson Construction of Grand Rapids, retiring in 1979. He was
a member of the American
Legion of Remer, the Disabled American Veterans of Grand Rapids and the
Veterans of Foreign
Wars in Rockford, MN. He is survived by one daughter, Mamie Carlson
Shick of Mifflintown;
one son, Joseph Carlson of Bovey, MN; one sister, Mildred Hallila of Sauk
Rapids, MN; one
brother, Lyle Carlson of Rockford, MN; and one grandson, Klinton Carlson
of Bovey. He was
preceded in death by his parents, Gustav and Mabel Carlson; a son, Carl
L. Carlson, who was
killed in Vietnam in 1968; two brothers, Clarence and John; and two sisters,
Elsie Saylor and

Railroad. He also served as mayor of Mifflin for ten years. He was
a 1942 graduate of
Juniata Joint High School, Mifflintown. He was a WWII U.S. Army veteran,
serving with the
410th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Unit, having a tour of duty in the African
and European
theaters. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Mifflin,
and was a life member
of Crawford-Brubaker VFW Post No. 5863, Mifflintown. Funeral services were
held Thursday from
Brown Funeral Home, Mifflintown, with Rev. George S. Reynolds officiating.
Burial was in
Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery, Mifflintown, where full military burial

service. She worked for Pennsylvania Railroad during World War Il. She
also worked for
Renningers' Concessions at the Port Royal Speedway for several years.

died Tuesday morning, June 18, 1996 at
Community General Osteopathic Hospital, Harrisburg, where she was admitted
Sunday, June
16, 1996. Born January 8, 1921, at East Salem, Juniata County, she was
the daughter of
the late John Lewis and Mary Mitchell Swartz. She was married to Harold
E. Fogleman, who
preceded her in death November 21, 1966. Mrs. Fogleman was educated in
the East Salem
School. She was a homemaker and mother. Her leisure activities included
crossword puzzles
and she enjoyed viewing television. Her memberships included East Salem
United Methodist
Church in years past, and most recently Liverpool United Methodist Church.
She was a
member of Liverpool Ambulance League. Mrs. Fogleman is survived by six
children, Larry R.
and Robert C., both of Liverpool, Harold E. of Liverpool RR1, Kenneth L.
Fogleman,
Etters, Elsie M. Miller, Mifflintown RR3, and Betty J. McNaughton, Thompsontown
RR1; one
brother, Emmet Swartz, Mifflintown; 14 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Mrs.
Fogleman was preceded in death by four brothers, George W., Arthur H.,
Norman M. and
Melvin J. Swartz, and by two sisters, Nellie Zellers and Mary Ellen Leister.

Maryland Medical School, Hagerstown, MD. She was a member of United
Church of Christ,
Ickesburg. She was a den mother for Boy Scout Troop No. 73, Loysville for
many years. She
was a member of the Ladies' Auxiliary of Ickesburg Fire Company.

GEIB, ELIZABETH N. ---- Elizabeth N. "Betty" Geib, 80, of Manheim, died
unexpectedly Friday morning, April 26, 1996,
at Lancaster General Hospital. She had been under a doctor's care.
Born in Rapho Township,
she was the daughter of the late Daniel M. and Lizzie Miller Nissley and
the Stanley Ryan
Geib, who died in 1972. For 20 years she was a secretary for attorney J.
David Young of
Manheim, retiring in 1983. She previously was a secretary for the Fuller
Co. of Manheim for
ten years. Mrs. Geib was known as the "Manheim Soap Lady" for her
hobby of making soap at
home. She picked up the hobby in 1938 and would spend 12 to 14 hours a
week making soap after
her retirement. Formed into pink roosters, blue skunks, white mushrooms
and other figures,
the soap was sold mainly at craft shows. Mrs. Geib also was known
for braiding rugs from
wool. She was, for more than 50 years, a member of Salem United Methodist
Church of Manheim,
where she taught Sunday school in the youth department for 24 years.
A 1934 graduate of
Manheim High School, she was the first member of four generations of her
family to join the
National Honor Society. Mrs. Geib was a member of Society of Farm
Women 2 and served as
county treasurer of the group in 1985, 1986, 1993 and 1994. She also
was a volunteer at
Manheim Library for many years and worked with the Manheim area Meals-on-Wheels.
Surviving
are three sons, Randall Ryan, husband of Violet M. Geib, and Hugh Rodney
Geib, both of
Manheim, and Steven Lee, husband of Alice D. Geib of Brownstown; two daughters,
Judith Ann,

1995. She was a Methodist by faith. Mrs. Goodling was a loving
mother and homemaker. She
loved family life, Harley Davidsons and Doberman dogs. She is survived
by her fiance,
Barry L. Spade, with whom she lived, and also by her husband, Clifford
R. Goodling Jr. of
Richfield RR1. Also surviving are two sons, Woodrow R. Goodling and Zachary
R. Goodling,

Corp.
Lewistown, and in 1972 he took em ployment with Roadway' Express 'Inc.,
Carlisle, before
retiring on disability ability in 1989 with 17 years of service.

at 1:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 2, 1996, at her
home following a long illness. She was born January 16, 1925 in McAlisterville,
the daughter
of the late Pusey Chambers Losch and Mary Margaret [Smeltz] Losch.
Her husband, R. William
Hine, whom she married June 22, 1966, survives. Her first husband,
John Robert Swartz, died
in 1964. She is also survived by two sons, John Dane Swartz, Hershey,
and John E. Hine,
Bloomsburg; one brother, George P. Losch, Millerstown RR2; two sisters,
Olive Losch Troup,
Millerstown, and Rosemary Losch Beaver, Hershey; five grandchildren; and
one great-grandson.
She was predeceased by a son, Andrew L. Swartz, and a brother, John Isaac
Losch. She attended
Stony Run Elementary School, McAlisterville, and graduated from Millerstown
School in 1943.
She then attended a school of cosmetology, where she attained teaching
status. She was
co-owner with her husband of West Shore Beauty Academy, Lemoyne, from 1966
to 1983, and was
also a teacher there. She had previously been employed by Chambersburg
Beauty School from
1962 to 1964 and Empire Beauty Schools of Pennsylvania from 1965 to 1966.
She was a charter
member of Faith Lutheran Church, Richfield RR1, where she was the organist
for 30 years, and
was also a charter member of Greenwood Community Band, Millerstown, belonging
for 17 years.
The funeral was held Saturday at Faith Lutheran Church, with Rev. Timothy
W. Bingman
officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. The Ronald C. Sheaffer
Funeral Home,

HOFFMAN, HELEN B. ----- Helen B. Hoffman, 82, of Bloomsburg, died Thursday
morning, May 9, 1996, at Orangeville
Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, where she was admitted May 8, 1995.
She was a resident of
Almedia for 47 years. Mrs. Hoffman was born December 25, 1912 in
Academia, Juniata County, a
daughter of the late Banks A. and Maude Walters Brubaker. She was
a 1931 graduate of
Lewistown High School and a 1935 graduate of the former Geisinger Memorial
Hospital School of
Nursing. As a registered nurse, during her working years, she was
employed part-time by
Geisinger Medical Center and also served as a private duty nurse. She was
an honorary member
of Geisinger Alumni Association and was a member of Ridge Street United
Methodist Church.
She was the widow of Arthur B. Hoffman, who died December 19, 1982.
Survivors include two
brothers, Walter G. Brubaker of Port Royal and David W. Brubaker
of Honey Grove. She was
preceded in death by a brother, Carl E. Brubaker, in 1992. Funeral
services were held
Saturday from Allen Funeral Home, Bloomsburg, with her pastor, Rev. Gary
G. Dunn,
officiating. Burial was in Creveling Cemetery, Almedia.

HOOD, ROBERT ENOS ----- Robert E. Hood, 75, of Selinsgrove RR5 [Monroe
Township], died at 7:31 p.m, Thursday, June 6,
1996 at Sunbury Community Hospital, where he had been hospitalized since
May 21, 1996. Mr.
Hood had been in declining health since 1990. Born July 5, 1920 at Snyder
County, he was the
son of the late Edward Sr. and Emma M. [Foltz] Hood. Mr. Hood graduated
in 1938 from
Selinsgrove High School. He then took one year of studies at Miami University,
Florida. He
was inducted into the U.S. Air Force and served during WWII in Alaska.
Mr. Hood was employed
for many years at the former Olmsted Air Force Base, Middletown, and also
at an Ohio-based
Air Force unit, where he did clerical work. He was of the Methodist faith.
He was a member of
Dauntless Hook and Ladder Fire Company Ambulance League, Selinsgrove, and
truly loved cooking
and baking. He is survived by one sister, Fae E. Rathfon, Selinsgrove RR5.
He was preceded in
death by two brothers, Clark Hood and Edward Hood Jr., and one sister,
Esther E. Moyer. The

He was born at Lewistown January 7, 1951. He was a son of Leroy Junior
Horne of Huntingdon
and Delores Aumiller Sinclair of Takoma Park, MD, and was raised by his
maternal
grandparents, Dorothy Aumiller of the Malta Home, Granville, and the late
Gerald Aumiller.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Smith Horne, whom he married September
23, 1973. Also
surviving are a son, Ronald R. Horne Jr., at home; two brothers, George
Albert Hannon III of
Takoma Park and, Richard Payne of Silver Springs, MD; two sisters, Elizabeth
Smith of Laurel,
MD, and Dorothy Bryer of Yeagertown; and a number of aunts, uncles and
cousins. He was
preceded in death by two uncles. He was a 1968 graduate of Kishacoquillas
High School and
was employed as a draftsman by Ted Wood, Mifflintown RR2. He was
a member of Aldersgate
United Methodist Church, Mifflintown, and Loyal Order of Moose No. 143,
Lewistown. He bowled
with the mixed league and with the Leidy Bowling Team. He played softball
with the Juniata
Jaycees team and was a former Little League baseball and soccer coach,

with the U.S. Navy in the Asian-Pacific Theatre. At the age of 60, Mr.
House retired from
Consolidated Freightways of York, following employment as a truck driver
for 26 years. He was

died at 1:20 a.m., Thursday, May 16, 1996 at
her residence, following an illness of the past 15 months. Born December
24, 1944 at Sunbury,
Northumberland County, she was the daughter of Robert C. and Phyllis Frey
Hoover of Sunbury.
June 23, 1962, she was united in marriage to Charles E. Inch, who survives.
Mrs. Inch
attended Selinsgrove High School. She had worked for ten years and managed
the Mill End Store
at Port Trevorton. Employment thereafter was for Weis Markets, Selinsgrove,
with ill health
forcing an early retirement. Mrs. Inch was a Mary Kay Cosmetics consultant
for the past two
years. She was a member, Sunday school secretary and AWANA leader
of Richfield Mennonite
Church. She was a former member of Liverpool Bible Baptist Church, where
she was a Sunday
school teacher and youth leader. During the early years of her marriage,
Mrs. Inch was a
member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Mt. Pleasant Mills. Through
a life of dignity and
grace, Mrs. Inch touched many lives. In addition to her parents and
husband, Mrs. Inch is
survived by three daughters, Victoria F. "Tori" Myers, Enola, Valerie F.
Cook, Selinsgrove
RR#, and Kristin G. Willow, Millerstown RR 2; one brother, Ronald E. Hoover,
Sunbury; three

homemaker and mother, having been employed for five years at Liverpool
Dress Factory,
Liverpool. For the past seven years Mrs. Jamison was a care giver to her
husband, who is
confined to a wheelchair. She enjoyed baking. Mrs. Jamison was a member
of Turkey Valley
United Methodist Church, Millerstown RR2, and Thompsontown Ambulance League.
She is survived
by three children, Larry E. Jamison, Mifflintown RR2, Connie L. Liddington,
Newport RR1, and
Bonnie S. Burdge, East Waterford RR1; a brother, Charles Benner, Harrisburg;
nine
grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death
by a daughter, Gloria
J. Goodling, December 26, 1994; a son, Dale R. Jamison, September 11, 1988;

Chestertown, MD, formerly of Mifflintown RR1,
died Saturday evening, June 1, 1996 at Magnolia Nursing Home. Born December
5, 1914 in
Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Carl Stouch and Cora
Ingram Pegan. Her
spouse, Chester Irvin Knight, formerly manager of Chestertown Electric
Light & Power
Company, died September 30, 1995. Surviving are two sons, Chester I. Knight
Jr. of
Chester, MD, and James L. Knight of North Wales, PA; one daughter, Sara
[Salty] J. Capel
of Chestertown, MD; two brothers, Thomas Carl Stouch and John Winegard
Stouch, both of
Lancaster; one sister, Julie Roschel of Lancaster; seven grandchildren;
and 11 great-
grandchildren. She was a Gray Lady at Kent & Queen Armes Hospital for
20 years, member of
American Legion Post No. 36 for over 40 years, life member of Elks Lodge
No. 2474, member
of Christ United Methodist Church, where she spent considerable time serving
with the
Ladies' Altar Care, Food Pantry and teaching Bible School, and did volunteer
work in the
community. The family is requesting contributions to the Christ United
Methodist Church
Building Fund, 401 High Street, P.O. Box 262, Chestertown, MD 21620. Services
were held
at the convenience of the family.

was stricken suddenly at his home and
was pronounced dead in the emergency room of Lewistown Hospital at 5:17
p.m. Monday, June 17,
1996. He was born May 9, 1932 in Delaware Township, Juniata County, the
son of the late
Ernest E. and Mabel I. [Swartz] Kuhns. He is survived by his wife, the
former Esther M.
Landis, whom he married April 24, 1952. Also surviving are four daughters,
Lucille E. Kuhns,
Patricia A. Dressler and Barbara I. Seaman, all of McAlisterville, and
Zena M. Fortson of
Harrisburg; two sisters, Ellen Graybill, Richfield, and Sarah Foltz, McAlisterville
RR 1; and
five grandchildren. He attended Cocolamus School and Fayette High School,
McAlisterville. He
was an automobile mechanic and owned and operated Kuhns Service Center,
in Mifflin, from 1962
till 1981, and in Cocolamus from 1981 until his death. He had previously
been employed by New
Cumberland Army Depot, New Cumberland, and Earl Beale Cadillac, Lewistown.
After partial
retirement in 1994 he was employed part-time at Schlegel's Grocery &
Hardware, Thompsontown
RR1. He was a member of Brown's United Methodist Church, McAlisterville
RR1, where he served
on the Board of Trustees. He also served on the Board of the Brown's/Cocolamus
Cemetery. The
funeral service was held Thursday at Brown's United Methodist Church, McAlisterville
RR1,
with Rev. Ronald E. Landis officiating. Interment followed in the Brown's/Cocolamus
Cemetery,
Cocolamus. The Ronald C. Sheaffer Funeral Home, McAlisterville, was in
charge of

LANDIS, VIOLA --------- Viola E. [Garis] Landis, 91, died Wednesday
morning, May 15, 1996, at Rockhill Mennonite
Homes, Sellersville, PA. She was born in December 1905, the oldest daughter
of Greely and
Jennie [Leyder] Gingrich, Mifflintown RR. In 1934 she married Earl D. Garis
and moved to
Telford, PA. To this union was born two sons and one daughter, Verna, Richard
and Dr. Mark
Garis. Earl passed away in 1956. She later married Howard Landis, and inherited
from both
husbands six stepsons and three stepdaughters, 27 grandchildren and 39
great-grandchildren,
who survive. Preceding her in death were two brothers, Carl and Paul Gingrich
of
McAlisterville. Surviving are seven brothers and sisters, Jane Swartz of
McAlisterville,
John and Clair Gingrich of Burnham, James Lester of Lakeland, FL, Gertrude
Bowers of Messiah
Village, Grantham, PA, Ruth Wolgumuth of Mt. Joy and Martha Stem, Denver,
CO. Viola was a
member of the Brethern in Christ Church of Souderton, PA, for 63 years.
She was active until
recent years in the Missions Prayer Group, the Sewing Circle and visitations
with both of
her husbands, who were church deacons. Services were held at the Brethren
in Christ Church
of Souderton May 18.

Sr., died February 7,

LEISTER, PAUL L. ------ Paul L. Leister, 89, formerly of McAlisterville,
died at 5:55 p.m., Wednesday, June 5,1996 at
Brookline Manor, Mifflintown RR1. He was born in Bunkertown July 13, 1906,
the son of the
late Ira M. and Keturah E. [Brown] Leister. He graduated from Fayette High
School,
McAlisterville, in 1926. That same year he and his brother opened Leister
Brothers General
Merchandise Store, McAlisterville, which they operated until 1971. He was
also a linoleum and
carpet installer, training numerous future successful installers. November
26, 1931 he
married the former Margaret E. Kilmer, who died September 5, 1992. He served
in the United
States Army during WWII, from April 1944 until August 1945, serving with
Co. C., 110th
Infantry, in Europe, where he was wounded in action November 25, 1944 in
Rhineland, Germany.
He is survived by two daughters, Phyllis L. Shellenberger, Mifflintown
RR3, and Connie L.
Woleslagle, McAlisterville; a brother, John Leister, McAlisterville; seven
grandchildren and
six great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, Guy Leister,
and three sisters,
Verda Drew, Minnie Shelley and Mable Taylor. He was an avid fisherman and
hunter and was and
active supporter of the Fayette Carnival and McAlisterville Fire Department
and Ambulance
Company. He was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, McAlisterville;
VFW Post
5863, Mifflintown; American Legion Post 298, Mifflintown; and was a past
director of
Fermanagh Building and Loan, Mifflintown. The funeral was conducted Saturday
at Trinity
Evangelical Lutheran Church, McAlisterville, with Rev. James Park Bricker
officiating.
Interment followed in the Goodwill Cemetery, Bunkertown, with full military
honors provided
by the Juniata County Veterans Council. The Ronald C. Sheaffer Funeral

daughter of the late Peter W. and Fannie [Wileman] Forry. Her husband,
William R. Lesher,
died April 16, 1974. She is survived by one daughter, Vivian L. Zimmerman,
Duncannon; three
grandchildren; three greatgrandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in
death by a son, Kenneth Lesher; two brothers,' Ira David Forry and Earl
Wilson Forry; and
three sisters, Jennie Kerstetter, Sarah Seiler and Ruth Elsesser.
She attended Bethlehem
Grade School. She worked as a seamstress for Millerstown Shirt Factory
for, numerous years.
She was a former member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church. The

MASTER, LIZZIE MAE ---- Lizzie M. Master, 78, of Richfield, died at
11:07 p.m., Thursday, June 13, 1996, at
Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg, where she was admitted June
8, 1996. Born December
13, 1917 at Snyder County, she was the daughter of the late Jacob I. and
Sally Benner Master.
Miss Master attended Richfield Grammar School. She was employed for 35
years as a seamstress
for the Richfield Shirt Factory. Her employment span also includes several
years she left
employment to be the principal caregiver for her mother. Miss Master
retired in 1972 from
the shirt factory. She was an active member of Richfield Mennonite Church
and a member of the
Ladies' Sunday School Class of the church. In prior years, she had sung
in the church choir
and assisted with funeral luncheons and wedding receptions at the church.
She also taught
Sunday school. Miss Master was a member of Richfield Ambulance League and
during her leisure
time she was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening. She is survived by one
brother, Percy A.
Master, Mifflintown RR4, and many nieces, nephews, greatnieces and great-nephews.
She was
preceded in death by three brothers, Paul Master, Lee Master and an infant
brother. The
funeral service was conducted Tuesday from Richfield Mennonite Church,
with Pastor Jerry R.
O'Connell officiating. Interment was made in Richfield Union Cemetery,

department at the Montgomery Ward Department Store, Lewistown. After
his retirement, he
helped his daughter at Spruce Hill Lunch and also ISO worked for Rex Funeral
Home, ort Royal,
for many years. He was a life member of Port Royal United Methodist
Church and was a life
member and secretary of Herringbone Hounds Hunting Camp. He was a
50-year member of Turbett
Grange No. 781 and was a member of State Grange and National Grange.

Saturday at Rex Funeral Home, Port Royal, with Rev. Gerald D. Wagner and
Pastor Frank J.
Swartz officiating. Interment was An Old Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal.

MURRAY, EDWARD -------- Edward Murray, 56, of Liverpool, died at 11:26
p.m., Friday, May 17, 1996 at Harrisburg
Hospital, where he was transferred from Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill,
following
hospitalization since May 7. He had been seriously ill for the past month.
Born August 11,
1939 at San Antonio, TX, he was the son of the late Edward Elsner Jr. and
the late Frances
Rodgers Murray. In 1962, he was adopted by William Maurice Murray, who
also preceded him in
death. October 23, 1959, he was married to the former Shirley Frock,
who survives. The
family moved from Edinburg, TX in 1948 and Mr. Murray was educated in Liverpool
Grade School,
as Liverpool was there they settled. He began employment for the
Pennsylvania Department of
Highways in 1958 as a highways and bridge inspector and surveyor. His span
of employment
existed until 1976 at which time he began working for Tracy Engineers,
Lemoyne, as a surveyor
until 1977. He then worked for a brief period at Industrial Electronic
Rubber plant,
Liverpool. In 1978, he started working at Jackson Manufacturing Company,
Harrisburg [now True
Temper] until the time of his death, when he was a part-time foreman, forklift
operator and
water treatment systems operator. He attended the Blessed Hope Bible
Church, Liverpool RR2
and was a member of Liverpool Fire Company and Ambulance League, Liverpool.
He was a member
of the United Steel Workers of America, Local No. 7116 District 7. Additionally,
he was a
member of the American Association of Retired Persons. He enjoyed
fishing, hunting and
camping. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons,
Kelvin N. Murray,
Millerstown, and Edward L. Murray Jr., at home; one brother, Paul R. Murray,
Liverpool RR1;
and two grandchildren. The funeral service will be Wednesday, May
22, at 2:00 p.m. from The
George P. Garman Funeral Home., 606 N. Front Street, Liverpool, with Rev.
Lou N. Mancari
officiating and Rev. Clair R. Troutman assisting. Interment will
be in Liverpool Union

Mifflintown, died at 8:39 a.m. Saturday, June 1, 1996, at Lewistown Hospital.
Born August 23,
1920, in Yauco, Puerto Rico, he was a son of the late Aristides Perez-Font
and Rafaela
Pacheco-Morales. He is survived by his stepmother Marina Perez, San Juan,
Puerto Rico. His
wife, Judith Bravo de Perez, died April 16, 1975. In addition to his stepmother,
he is
survived by: a son, Rafael A. PerezBravo, Mifflintown RR2; brothers and
sisters, Isreal
Perez-Pacheco, San Juan, Antonio Perez-Pacheco, San Juan, Arnaldo Perez-Pacheco,
Staten
Island, NY, Mrs. Iris Silvestrini, San Juan, Mrs. Elsa Jiminez, San Juan,

Luciano, San Juan, Mrs. Leida Lamas, Harrisburg, Mrs. Maricelis May, Wilmington,
DE; two
grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Doris Garcia and
Ligia Silvestrini.
He retired in 1988 as chief pharmacist for Selinsgrove State Center. He
was a 1951 graduate
of Philadelphia College of Pharr Pharmacy and Science. Earlier in his career,
from 1952-1960,
he was a pharmaceutical resentative in the Caribbean. He owned and operated
Parque Pharmacy,
Santurce, Puerto Rico, from 1960-1968. From 1968-1971, he was a pharmacist
at the State
Insurance Fund, San Juan, Puerto Rico. He was a pharmacist at Beward Pharmacy,
Mifflintown,
from 1971-1977 and was a pharmacist at Rea and Derrick, Selinsgrove, from
1977-1979. He was a
member of St. Jude's Roman Catholic Church, Mifflintown. He was a charter
member of St.
Jude's Knights of Columbus Council No. 10842 and was a fourth degree member
of Our Lady of
Victory Assembly, State College. He was also a member of Mifflintown Rotary
Club, Loyal Order
of Moose Lodge No. 0143, Lewistown, Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity
and Pennsylvania
Pharmaceutical Association. A mass of Christian burial was celebrated Tuesday
at St. Jude's
Roman Catholic Church, Mifflintown, with Rev. Thomas C. Marickovic and
Deacon John A. Rocco
officiating. Interment was in Old Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal. Recitation
of Rosary was
held at Port Royal Rex Funeral Home, Memorial contributions may be made

died Sunday, March 24, 1996, at 11:07 a.m. in
the Lewistown Hospital emergency room, where she was taken after being
stricken suddenly at
home. Born in Snyder County January 9, 1906, she was the daughter of the
late Edward and
Ellen [Heinbaugh] Strawser. Her husband, Penrose E. Phillips, whom
she married April 4,
1926, died December 9, 1981. Survivors are one son, Merrel Phillips,
Marysville; one
daughter, Martha Phillips, with whom Mrs. Phillips resided; two grandchildren;
three great-
grandchildren; one great-greatgrandchild; and one brother, Marvin Strawser,
McAlisterville.
Two brothers, Clair and Earl, and one sister, Ruth, preceded her in death.
She enjoyed
quilting and gardening and was a member of Bunkertown Church of the Brethren.
Mrs. Phillips
was a housewife. The funeral was conducted Thursday at the Ronald
C. Sheaffer Funeral Home,
McAlisterville, with Rev. Elwood O. Johnson officiating. Interment followed
in the Goodwill
Cemetery, McAlisterville RR1.

had been a resident there since July 1, 1985. She was born at Richfield
RR1 October 15, 1904,
the daughter of the late William C. and Sarah E. [Swartz] Carvell. In 1932
she married Milton
C. Phillips, who preceded her in death. She attended Swartz School, Richfield,
and was a
housewife. She was a member of Richfield United Methodist Church and the
Queen Esther Sunday
School Class of the church. She is survived by one daughter, Verna Phillips
Fultz Bailor,
Selinsgrove; two grandchildren; five greatgrandchildren; one great-great-grandchild;
one
sister, Minnie E. Carvell, Richfield RR1; and one brother, Ray J. Carvell,
Richfield RR1. She
was preceded in death by three brothers, Clair, Palmer and John, and two
sisters, Mary
Carvell and Mae Fisher. The funeral service was conducted Tuesday at Richfield
United
Methodist Church, with her pastor, Rev. Dr. Almon D. Baird, officiating.

was born August 20, 1923 in
Fermanagh Township, a daughter of the late H. Floyd and M. Kathleen [Dunn]
Covert. She is
survived by her husband, Carl L. Rhodes, HC 63, Mifflintown. Also
surviving are one brother,
Floyd E. Covert, Mifflintown RR4, and several nieces and nephews. She was
a member of Messiah
Lutheran Church, Mifflintown. She was a 1941 graduate of Juniata
Joint High School,
Mifflintown, and a 1945 graduate of Jefferson Hospital School of Nursing,
Philadelphia. She
was a registered nurse, working in her earlier life in Philadelphia. She
had worked at the
former Black's Hospital, Lewistown, and Lewistown Hospital before becoming
a school nurse in
1954 for the Juniata County School District and retiring in 1978 with 24
years of service for
the district. Memorial services were held Saturday from Messiah Lutheran
Church, Mifflintown,
with Rev. Anna M. Ritter officiating. Burial will be private and held at
the convenience of
the family in Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery, Mifflintown. Brown

Geraldine [Stence] Rogers of Mifflintown. His wife, Mary [Houck] Rogers,
whom he married in

ROUSH, REBECCA J. ----- Rebecca J. "Becky" Roush, 77, of Selinsgrove,
died on Monday April 15, 1996, at Evangelical
Family Practice in Shamokin Dam. She was born February 10, 1919 in
Mifflintown to the late
Theorus R. and Jane [Hower] Auker. June 14, 1941 she married Jack D. Roush,
who survives.
Mrs. Roush graduated from Mifflintown High School in 1936 and from Indiana
University of
Pennsylvania in 1940. She taught home economics at Mt. Holly Springs and
Wormleysburg. After
three years of teaching, she became a full-time housewife and mother.
Mrs. Roush was an avid
bird watcher and member of the Cornell Laboratory of Ornithology. She did
regular counts for
the Society and maintained a log of the species' migration. Mrs.
Roush was a regular blood
donor to the American Red Cross. She recently received their Five-GalIon
Award. She was a
member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Selinsgrove, where she served
on the administrative
board and was in charge of ushers. She was also a member of the Spinners
and Weavers Guild of
Lewisburg, General Thomas Mifflin Chapter of the Daughters of the American
Revolution,
Mifflintown, and Juniata District Mennonite Historical Society. Her mother
had published a
book on the genealogy of the Hower family. Becky continued the research
and kept family
information current. Mrs. Roush was also very active in many Rotary functions.
In addition to
her husband of 55 years, she is survived by five daughters, Letty Cortelyou,
Lakeland, FL,
Rebecca Aikman, Ann, Arbor, MI, Patricia Seimetz, Atlanta, GA, Susan Miller,
Jacksonville, FL
and Kathleen Roush, Ann Arbor, MI; a sister, Mary Martha Stoner, Mifflintown;
and seven
grandchildren. A memorial service was held Thursday, April 18 from
Wesley United Buy grove.

was married to Calvin
L. Sarver, who died in 1975. She attended the Greenwood schools and
was a homemaker. She was
a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, Millerstown RR 1, and AARP,
and was a past member
of Perry Valley Grange, Millerstown RR1. She is survived by two daughters,
Mildred Jones,
Newport, and Nancy Brown, Hanover; three sons, Richard of Millerstown RR3,

Larry, Millerstown RR3; 17 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild;

Cumberland; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She
was preceded in death by a
sister, Dorothy Keath; a brother, Robert Eichman; and one granddaughter.
She attended Fayette
Elementary School, McAlisterville and graduated from Thompsontown High
School in the class of
1946. She had been a homemaker the majority of her life except for
a few years as a nurse's
aide at Mengle's Nursing Home, Richfield. She had previously lived in Rutherford
Heights,
Harrisburg and Liverpool. She was a member of Brown's United Methodist
Church, Cocolamus.

1996 at Messiah Village, Mechanicsburg, where he had resided since February
1994. He was born
in Swales, Juniata County, October 23, 1911, the son of the late Charles
E. and Lillian
[Beers] Schell. He was married to the former Elsie Clare, who died
June 5, 1989. He and his
wife had no children. He is survived by four sisters, Anna Fry, Highspire,
Juniata Querry,
Thompsontown, and Hilda Shotsberger and Frieda Kissinger, both of Camp
Hill; and numerous
nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Arthur,
Homer, John, Donald
and Robert Schell; and two sisters, Bernice Imler and Florence Eagler.
He owned and operated
the general store in Center in the 1940s. He retired after many years of
working for the
State of Pennsylvania as a concrete former on bridge construction.
He was a member of
Otterbein United Methodist Church, East Salem, and was a member of Carpenters
Union AFL-CIO.

District. She had taught at Black Log, Liberty, Red Bank, Thompsontown
and Fayette

1937. He formerly
owned and operated Sierer Brothers Fruit Farm in Mt. Pleasant Mills.

member of the church
council. He served on the St. John's Lutheran and Reformed Cemetery Board
in Mt. Pleasant
Mills. He was a member of Free and Accepted Masonic Lodge No. 619, Middleburg;

Lebanon Lodge No. 88 of Juniata Valley; Fremont Fire Co., Mt. Pleasant

SNYDER, ALFRED GENE --- Alfred Gene Snyder, 67, of Freeburg, died at
7:00 p.m., Monday, April 15, 1996, at Divine
Providence Hospital, Williamsport, where he was admitted the day prior.
Born August 4, 1928
at Richfield, he was the son of the late Raymond C. and Marie N. Graybill
Snyder. September
20, 1947 he married the former Lucille M. Gundrum, who survives. Mr. Snyder
graduated in 1946
from Selinsgrove High School, then entered into military service with the
U.S. Marine Corps
and served from 1946-1948. Following his duties with the Marines, he enrolled
at Susquehanna
University, Selinsgrove, and graduated with a B.S. in business in 1952.
He again enlisted in
the military, with the U.S. Navy, and served during the Vietnam era, earning
the Vietnamese
Cross of Gallantry with one Bronze Star, the Vietnam Service Medal with
one star, the Combat
Action Ribbon, the Navy Commendation Medal with Combat "V", Republic of
Vietnam Campaign
Medal with Device and the National Defense Service Medal. He retired
as a Naval commander in
1988, ending his military duties with the Naval Reserves, honorably discharged.
He received
his M.S. degree from Bloomsburg University in 1978, with his focus of study
in special
education, Following a 20-year employment at the Laurelton Center, Laurelton,
where he was a
special education teacher supervisor, Mr. Snyder retired in 1990.
He was an active member of
St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Freeburg. Additional memberships include the
Theta Chai
Fraternity, the Naval Reserve Association, the Reserve Officers Association
and the Retired
officers Association, all of Washington, DC, the American Association of
Retired Persons and
Dauntless Hook and Ladder Fire Company Ambulance League, Selinsgrove.
In addition to his
wife, he is survived by two sons, Alfred Gene Snyder II of Richfield and
Gregg A. Snyder,
Bisbee, AZ; three brothers, Warren R. Snyder, California, MD, Horace E.
"Pit" Snyder,
Freeburg, and Dale R. Snyder, Irving, TX; two sisters, Luella N. Kaufman,
Baltimore, MD, and
Eleanor J. Snyder, Richfield RR 1; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A
memorial service was conducted Sunday from the George P. Garman Funeral
Home, Mt. Pleasant
Mills, with Rev. David K. Loader officiating and Rev. Arthur D. Steckel
assisting. Interment

Community Hospital. Born June 9, 1938, in McAlisterville, he was
a son of the late James and
Catherine [Shellenberger] Soder. His wife, G. Jeanette Zerbe Soder, survives.

He was

School. He worked at Door
Craft of Pennsylvania in Sunbury as a laborer for 16 years. He was
Protestant by faith and
was a member of Sunbury Moose, Sunbury VFW, Sunbury Eagles and the Good
Intent Fire Co.
Services were held Monday at the David T. Zweier Funeral Home Inc., Sunbury,
with Rev. David
Pickett officiating. Interment was in Shreiner's Cemetery, Selinsgrove.

wife, Jean H. [Burd] Spade, whom he married February 11, 1950, survives.

was in Union Cemetery, Walker Township, Juniata County. Military

January 20, 1915, the son of the late Lloyd B. and Sarah E. [Jones] Speece.
His wife, the
former Jean Springer, died October 23, 1991. He is survived by two
brothers, Harmon J.
Speece, Thompsontown, and Wayne B. Speece, Harrisburg; and one sister,
Mary Ella Bender,
Lewistown. He attended Goodwill Grade School, Delaware Township.
He was employed as a
farmer and worked for several farmers in Juniata County. He worked for
a short period of time
for Jackson Manufacturing Co., making wheelbarrows. He was an avid
hunter and fisherman.
The funeral service was held Friday at the Ronald C. Sheaffer Funeral Home,
McAlisterville,
with Rev. Richard M. VonNeida officiating. Interment was made Saturday
in the Fairview
Cemetery, Millheim.

who survives. Mrs.
Stahr was a graduate of East Juniata High School, Cocolamus, in 1966. She
was a homemaker and

Mt. Pleasant Mills
RR2, the Oriental Sportsman's Club, Liverpool RR1, Liverpool Fire Co. and
Ambulance League
and Reliance Hose Company Ambulance League, Middleburg. In addition to

Boxwood Road plant for 32 years, retiring in 1990. An Army veteran of the
Korean War, he was

He was a member of Newark Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife

UTTERBACK, HELEN E. --- Helen E. Utterback, 73, of Mason City, IA, passed
from this world to a better life Saturday,
April 6, 1996, at Manly Care Center, Manly. Helen was born on a farm
near East Waterford
February 26, 1923, the daughter of Raymond and Lucy Mae [Love] Long.
After graduating from
Juniata High School, she worked in Harrisburg in the G.R. Kinney main office.
She was united
in marriage to William F. Utterback December 20, 1944. After his
discharge from the United
States Army in January 1946, Bill, Helen and their young daughter moved
to Des Moines, IA,
where Bill completed his college education at brake. In 1948, they
moved to Windom, MN.
After an early retirement, they moved from Windom to the Manly Retirement
Apartments and
later purchased a home in Mason City. Since 1972, they have also maintained
a Winter home in
Mesa, AZ. Helen had a great love for her family By and her church.
She enjoyed playing
bridge, playing golf and visiting with friends. She will be remembered
as a kind, caring
individual with a strong inner faith and strength. Helen is survived
by her loving husband
of 51 years, Bill, of Mason City; two daughter, Barbara Backhaus and her
husband, Earl, of
Manly; Belinda Weber and her husband, Greg, of Montevideo, MN; one son,
William [Bill] K.
Utterback and his wife, Kim, of Perry; four grandchildren, Tammy, Angie,

the Brethren, Port
Royal RR3, and Spruce Hill Grange No. 772. Services were held Saturday
at Rex Funeral Home,
Port Royal, with Rev. Charles Sheaffer officiating. Interment was in Goodwill
Cemetery,

WALTERS, LESTER H. ---- Lester H. "Lefty" Walters, 77, of Mifflintown,
died at 6:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 7, 1996 at
Locust Grove Retirement Village, HC 67, Mifflin. He was born February
10, 1919 in Mifflin, a
son of the late James and Cora B. [Leister] Walters. He was preceded in
death by his first
wife, Virginia "Jean" (Dunn] Walters, December 2, 1961. He is survived
by his second wife,
Lois A. (Criswell] Walters, whom he married February 9, 1963. Also
surviving are one
daughter, Mrs. Warren "Dutch" [Brenda L.] Taylor, Mifflintown RR3; two
sisters, Mrs. Harold
[Avis] Nipple, Mifflintown RR3, and Mrs. Robert [Mildred] Aurand, Burnham;
one granddaughter;
and one great-grandson. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist
Church, Mifflin, and a
WWII U.S. Army veteran, having served in the European Theater. In
earlier life he was a
self-employed painter before working for Harrisburg Decorating and retiring
in 1981 from
Three Mile Island,, Middletown. Funeral services were held Friday
from Brown Funeral Home,
Mifflintown, with Rev. George S. Reynolds officiating. Burial was in Westminster
Presbyterian
Cemetery, Mifflintown, where full military burial honors were conducted
by the Juniata County

the late George and Amanda [Varner] Kahley. She is survived by: four sons

McAlisterville RR1;

She was a member of

WILLOW, ELSIE B. ------ Mrs. Elsie B. Willow, 89, of Richfield, died
at 4:16 a.m., Tuesday June 18, 1996 at Geisinger
Medical Center, Danville, where she was admitted Sunday, June 16, after
being stricken at her
home. Born November 19, 1906 at West Perry Township, Snyder County, she
was the daughter of
the late William Jacob and Mabel Benner Bolig. She was married to Calvin
S. Willow, who
preceded her in death in September 1989. She attended the Crossroads and
Stahl grammar
schools, both in Snyder County. In early years, Mrs. Willow was employed
as a seamstress for
the shirt factory in Richfield. She was a homemaker and mother, but did
seek employment at
The Zendt Home, Richfield, where she was employed in the housekeeping department
for 17
years, a position she held until she reached 72 years of age. Mrs. Willow
was a member of
Richfield United Methodist Church and Richfield Ambulance League. She did
leisure activities
such as crocheting and reading and kept current with political issues.
She is survived by two
children, Palmer "Pete" E. Willow and Betty I. Landis, both of Richfield;
one sister, Miss
Alvesta M. Bolig, Richfield; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren;
and two great-
great-grandchildren. Mrs. Willow was preceded in death by one brother,
Arthur Bolig, in
childhood, and three sisters, Alda Brubaker, Laura Lauver and Iva Shadel.
The funeral service
was conducted Friday from the George P. Garman Funeral Home, Mt. Pleasant
Mills, with her
pastor, Rev. Almon D. Baird, officiating. Interment was made in the Richfield
Union Cemetery.

WISE, ALLENE H. ------- Allene H. Wise, 82, of Mifflintown RR3, died
at 10:20 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, 1996, at
Lewistown Hospital. Born May 9, 1913 in Altoona, she was a daughter of
the late Herman M. and
Maude [Suloff] Houtz. Her husband, James C. Wise, whom she married
June 11, 1937, survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Gale Gearhart of Carlisle; one son, James
Larry Wise of
Mifflintown RR3; brothers and sisters, Doran K. Houtz, Herman Dean Houtz,
Gerald Denton Houtz
and Dorothy Kauffman, all of Mifflintown RR3, and Ruth Zendt of Brookline
Village,
Mifflintown RR1; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. She
was a 1932 graduate of
Lewistown High School and was a retired duplicating supervisor from the
Pennsylvania
Department of Education. She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church,
Mifflintown, EverReady
Sunday School Class, the Church Missionary Society, AARP and a former member
of the church
choir. Funeral services were held Saturday at Messiah Lutheran Church
with Rev. William N.
Esborn officiating. Interment was at St. Stephen's Lutheran Cemetery,
Licking Creek Valley.

WITMER, MILDRED OLIVE - Mrs. Mildred O. Witmer, 82, of Liverpool RR1
[Liverpool Township], Perry County, died
Thursday, May 30, 1996 at 1:00 p.m. at her home. Born January 8, 1914 at
Liverpool RR1, she
was the daughter of the late Milton and Pearl Barner Gelnett. March 26,
1938 she married W.
Ray Witmer, who preceded her in death January 19, 1978. Mrs. Witmer was
a 1932 graduate of
Liverpool High School. She was a homemaker and mother, but also did cooking
in the dietary
department of the former Good Samaritan Nursing and Convalescent Home,
Liverpool, for many
years. She was a former Sunday school teacher and Church Council member
and long-time member
of St. John's [Barner's] Lutheran Church, Liverpool RR1. Additionally,
she was a past member
of the former Liverpool Civic Club and for many years was judge of elections
for Liverpool
Township. She was also a member of Liverpool Fire Company and Ambulance
League. She is
survived by two children, Sidney W. Witmer, Liverpool RR1, and Darla R.
Watkins, Liverpool
RR1; two sisters, Mrs. Ardella Cauffman, Millerstown RR1, and Mrs. Marie
Shirk, Selinsgrove;
and five grandchildren. Mrs. Witmer was preceded in death by two brothers,
Clayton B. Gelnett
and Bruce Gelnett [the latter in infancy], and one granddaughter, Patricia
Ann Watkins, in
infancy. The funeral service was conducted Sunday from St. John's [Barner's]
Lutheran Church,
with her pastor, Rev. Robert J. Wittlinger Jr., officiating. Interment
was made in the

p.m., Sunday, April 28, 1996 at Brookline
Manor Convalescent Home, Mifflintown RR 1, where he had been a resident
since April 5, 1996.
He was born in Fermanagh Township, Juniata County, November 4, 1904, the
son of the late John
Eli and Caroline [Fogle] Writer. He is survived by two nieces, Helen
Sieber, McAlisterville,
and Edna Cole, York. He was predeceased by a brother, Frank Writer,
and seven sisters, Mabel
Creel, Anna Writer, Edna Shellenberger, Margaret Kinzer, Pearl Ham, Caroline
Writer and
Isabella Writer. He attended Happy Hollow Grade School, Mifflintown
RR2. He was a member of
Pine Grove United Methodist Church, Mifflintown RR1. He lived on the family
farm and attended
to the raspberries & strawberries that were grown there and was employed
by Triangle Pacific
Cabinets Corporation, Thompsontown, until his retirement. He had previously
been employed in
bridge construction. The funeral service was held Thursday at the
Ronald C. Sheaffer Funeral
Home, McAlisterville, with Rev. James R. Sunderland Jr. officiating.
Interment followed in

YODER, DAVID S. ------- David S. Yoder, 35, of RR1, Guilford, NY, died
Wednesday, April 17, 1996 at Conemaugh
Hospital, Johnstown, PA, where he had been a patient since January 30,
1996. He was being
treated for histoplasmosis, a fungal disease he acquired while serving
as a missionary in
Honduras. He was born May 11, 1960 at Mifflintown, a son of Amelia
M., [Peachey] Yoder of
Leesburg, OH, and the late LeRoy S. Yoder Sr. He was married April
25, 1987 to, Sarah Ann
Kauffman of Bedford, PA. In addition to his wife and mother, he is
survived by four
children, Micah: James, Merlin David, Jennifer Sue and Julie Ann, all at
home; and eight
brothers and sisters, Sam of Yancyville, NC, Leah Peachey of Leesburg,
Kore and LeRoy of
Flemingsburg, KY, Salina Renno of Mifflintown, Fannie Troyer of Chuckey,
TN, Katie Weaver of
Windsor, MO, and Henry of Port, Royal. He was preceded in death by,
his father in 1978, and
a brother in 1955. He was a self-employed wooden pallet manufacturer
and a member of: Grace
Christian Fellowship, Guilford, NY. He had also lived at Flemingsburg
for one and a half
years, where he taught school at Mt. Carmel Bible, Fellowship. Funeral
services were held
Saturday at Chestnut Ridge Independent Fellowship Church, Fishertown, PA,
with Brothers Abner
Kauffman and Roman Kauffman officiating. Burial was at Christian Light
Cemetery, Bedford. The
S. Gerald Weaver Funeral Home, Woodbury, PA, was in charge of arrangements.
