four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was a member of
Sandy Hill United

was in the Sandy

August 12, 1996 at her home. She was born January 26, 1920 at Hawstone,
Mifflin County, a
daughter of the late John and Pauline Helemay McKarchey. She is survived
by her husband,
Donald W. Bashore, whom she married November 9, 1986; children, Mrs. Brad
[Debra] Hoffman of
Liverpool, Donald L. Bashore of Mifflintown RR3 and Harry R. Bashore of
McAlisterville RR1; a
sister, Mrs. Forrest [Vera] Gordon of McAlisterville RR1; two brothers,
Charles McKarchey and
Paul McKarchey, both of Port Royal RR2; five grandchildren; and a number
of nieces and
nephews. She was preceded in death by one son, James Ferguson, two brothers
and two sisters.
She had been employed as a manager of the former New Bloomfield Dress Factory,
Newport; as an
assistant librarian at Greenwood High School, Millerstown; and as a clerk
at Boscov's, Camp
Hill. She was a member of Bunkertown Church of the Brethren. Funeral services
will be held
Wednesday, August 14 at 2:30 p.m. at Bunkertown Church of the Brethren,
with Rev. Woody
Johnson and Rev. Forrest Gordon officiating. Viewing will be held from
1:30 p.m. until the
time of the service. Interment will be in Millerstown River View Cemetery.

Lewistown, the son of the late Clarence W. and Alice G. Clymans Bassler.
He attended
elementary school in Richfield and East Juniata High School. He is survived
by his companion
of nine years, Carol E. Morrison; two step-daughters, Jamie A. Dressler
and Melissa M.
Morrison, both of McAlisterville; step-brothers and sisters, Donald Dressler,
Walnut, Barry
Dressler, Mifflintown, Betty Dunn, McAlisterville, and Vonnie Jean McMurray,
Florida; and two
step-granddaughters. He had been employed constructing stone crushers for
L.B. Smith
Construction, Harrisburg and then as a truck driver with Milton Trucking,
Milton; Savercool
Trucking, Liverpool and, from 1977 to 1991, with Johnsbury Trucking Co.,
Inc., Camp Hill
Terminal. In 1995 he was co-owner/operator of Carol's Cafe, McAlisterville.
He was a member
of Teamsters Union, Local 776, Harrisburg and American Legion, Post 298,
Mifflintown and past
member of Loyal Order of Moose, Millerstown and Juniata Sportsmen's Association,
Port Royal.
He was an avid NASCAR racing fan and enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing.
The funeral
service was held Tuesday, September 3 at the Ronald C. Sheaffer Funeral
Home, McAlisterville,
with Rev. James R. Sunderland Jr. officiating. Interment was in Hillside
Cemetery,
McAlisterville.

BRUBAKER, PEARL MAY --- Mrs. Pearl M. Brubaker, 83, formerly of Mt.
Pleasant Mills, died at 1:20 a.m. Monday,
September 9, 1996, at Manor Health Center, Laureldale, PA, where she had
resided since
February this year. Prior to her residency at Manor Care, she had lived
with her daughter in
Fleetwood, PA, since June 1994. Mrs. Brubaker had been under a doctor's
care for many years.
Born May 5, 1913 at Kellerville, Juniata County, she was the daughter of
the late John
Clayton and Cora Ann Stimeling Stuck. Mrs. Brubaker was educated at Stony
Run Grammar School,
Juniata County. She worked as a seamstress for many years at the McAlisterville
and Richfield
shirt factories and then retired after employment at the Selinsgrove Center,
Selinsgrove,
from 1973 to 1981, where she was a mental retardation aide. Mrs. Brubaker
was well-known for
her braided and crocheted rugs. She was an accomplished crocheter. She
is survived by one
daughter, Mrs. Phyllis N. Pyle, Fleetwood. She was preceded in death by
two brothers, her
twin, Merle Stuck, at birth, and Earl Stuck, in childhood. The funeral
service will be
conducted Thursday, September 12 at 2:30 p.m. at the George P. Garman Funeral
Home, Mt.
Pleasant Mills, with Rev. Carl E. Graybill officiating, Interment will
be made in Lauver's
Mennonite Cemetery, HC 63, Richfield [Cocolamus]. The family will receive

CARVELL, RAY JEREMIAH - Ray J. Carvell, 86, of Richfield RR1, died at
9:50 a.m. Thursday, July 4, 1996, at Sunbury
Community Hospital, where he was admitted July 1. He was seriously ill
since April 1996. Born
January 26, 1910 at Monroe Township, Juniata County, he was the son of
the late William C.
and Sarah E. Swartz Carvell. June 11, 1936 he married the former Beatrice
I. Swartz, who
preceded him in death September 8, 1993. He was educated at Swartz School
at Richfield RR1.
He was employed for 50 years by Richfield Shirt Manufacturing Company,
Richfield, as a truck
driver and stocked and delivered the merchandise. He retired in 1984. Mr.
Carvell was a long-
time member of Richfield United Methodist Church, where he was a member
of the Senior Men's
Sunday School Class and an alternate leader of the Wednesday Bible studies.
He formerly was a
Sunday school and Bible School teacher. Additional memberships include
Richfield Ambulance
League, and he coached the Old Timers Baseball League at Evendale. He was
an avid hunter and
had a great love of baseball. He also took much pride in the buying and
selling of guns. Mr.
Carvell is survived by three daughters, Joan E. Carvell, Clara K. Page
and Rita R. Cluck, all
of Richfield RR1, and one sister, Minnie E. Carvell, Richfield RR1. He
was preceded in death
by three brothers, Clair, Palmer and John Carvell, and by three sisters,
Mary Carvell, Mae
Fisher and Dora Phillips [June 21, 1996]. The funeral service was private.
Interment was made
in Richfield Union Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the

he was the son of the late John Harrison and Esther [Keisling] Chambers.
September 14,
1938, he married the former Agnes Clara Strawser, who preceded him in death
June 25,
1983. He was educated in the Juniata County schools. Mr. Chambers was first
employed by
the Harrisburg State Hospital, in the maintenance department. He retired
in 1976 after
nine years of employment with the Pennsylvania Department of Highways,
Juniata County,
Greenwood Township area, as a truck driver. He attended Stony Run Mission,
Richfield RR1
and The Village Chapel, Millerstown, RR1. He was a member of Thompsontown
Ambulance
League, Pennsylvania State Employees Association, Mifflin-Juniata Area
Agency on Aging,
Lewistown, and Loyal Order of Moose, Lodge No. 925, Millerstown, and was
an associate
member of the Central Pennsylvania Chapter of Chiefs of Police, Harrisburg.
He enjoyed
hunting and was an avid fisherman. Mr. Chambers is survived by two sons,
John H.
Chambers, Jacksonville, NC, and Franklin M. Chambers, Lewistown; three
daughters, Betty
Jane Johnson, Lewistown, Anna M. Metzger, Thornville, OH, and Wanda M.
Sarver,
Millerstown RR1; three stepchildren, Palmer George, Salem, NJ, Loretta
Ranck,
Thompsontown, and Kenneth George, Pennsville, NJ; a half-sister, Marie
of Enola; 32
grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Mr. Chambers
was preceded in death by two stepsons, Junior and Joseph George. The funeral
service was
conducted Thursday from the George P. Garman Funeral Home, Mt. Pleasant
Mills, with Rev.
James M. Strawser officiating. Soloist was Paige Metzger. Interment was
in Neimond's

clerk. She was
last employed by Simply Sandwiches, Lewistown. She was a member of Westminster

Presbyterian Church, Mifflintown, and was a volunteer at Happy House, Lewistown.

services were held at the convenience of the family. Interment was in Juniata
Memorial Park,

day. Born March 5,
1917 at Perry Township, Mt. Pleasant Mills RR2, he was a son of the late
William Monroe and
Sarah Kerstetter Dressler. March 9, 1941 he was united in marriage to the
former Pauline L.
Reichenbach, who survives. He was educated at Leister Grammar School at
Buckwheat Valley,
Snyder County. Mr. Dressler retired December 20, 1978 following 22 years
employment as a
guard at the State Correctional Institution, Camp Hill, and was also a
part-time security
officer at the former Rea & Derick warehouse at Northumberland. He
retired from the part-
time position many years ago. He was a member of St. Peter's United Church
of Christ,
Freeburg, where he was a former deacon. Additionally, he was a member of
Freeburg Fire
Company and the Snyder County Gideons Auxiliary, Shamokin Dam. In addition
to his wife of 55
years, he is survived by four brothers, Herman G. Dressler, Mt. Pleasant
Mills RR2, Elmer T.
Dressler, Selinsgrove RR2, and John A. and Elwood Dressler, both of Freeburg;
six sisters,
Mildred M. Dreese and Anna Arbogast, both of Freeburg, Betty Stephenson,

six years at
the Social Order of Owls, Newport, where he had to retire due to ill health
in 1996. He

Township, Juniata County, a son of the late Harry E. and Gertrude [Ernest]
Groninger. He is
survived by his wife, Margaret E. [Cockrill] Groninger, whom he married
August 3, 1951. Also
surviving are one son, J. Scott Groninger, Dittmer, MO; two daughters,
Kim M. Hannon and
Tracy D. Bailor, both of Lewistown; one sister, Mildred Lauver, Lombard,
IL; and eight
grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Dillie Mae Cleck
and Helen G. Lauver.
In earlier life he was employed by the American Viscose Corp., Lewistown,
as a supervisor of
the cake wash and cake stripping department until its closure in 1972;
thereafter he was
manager for the Derry Township Sewer Authority before retiring in 1991.
He was a Methodist by
faith and a member of the Avisco Twenty-five Year Club and BPO Elks Lodge
No. 663, Lewistown.

hobby was crocheting.

1996 at his residence. Death was attributed to a heart attack. Born December
17, 1928 at
Juniata County, he was the son of the former Arna Grace Bucher of Liverpool
RR1 and the
late Aaron Delvin Hockenbroch. October 29, 1949 he married the former Eleanor
Faye
Willow, who survives. His death breaks a marital union of 46 years. Mr.
Hockenbroch was
educated in the Susquehanna Township schools. He worked for various firms,
including
Phoenix Iron & Steel Co., Harrisburg; the Pennsylvania Railroad, Enola
Yards; New
Cumberland Army Depot; Mechanicsburg Navy Depot; the former Capital Products,
Mechanicsburg; and Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, Juniata County
Department
of Highways; he was a loyal employee of Poloron Homes, Middleburg, for
15 years. He
retired due to disability. He was Methodist by faith. His memberships include
Liverpool
Volunteer Fire Company and Ambulance League, Liverpool, and the American
Association of
Retired Persons. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening and was an avid
race fan. In
addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by three sons, Russell
R. Hockenbroch,
Liverpool RR1, Glenn M. Hockenbroch, Dauphin, and Donald M. Hockenbroch,
Mt. Pleasant
Mills RR1; one daughter, Carol L. Kauffman, Newport RR1; two brothers,

HOCKENBROCH, JUNIOR DELVIN - Junior D. "Chup" Hockenbroch, 67, of Liverpool
RR1, died Monday, July 22, 1996 at his
residence, due to a heart attack. Born December 17, 1928 in Juniata County,
he was the
son of the former Arna Grace Bucher of Liverpool RR1 and the late Aaron
Delvin
Hockenbroch. October 29, 1949 he married the former Eleanor Faye Willow,
who survives.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by three sons, Russel
R. Hockenbroch
of Liverpool RR1, Glenn M. Hockenbroch of Dauphin, and Donald M. Hockenbroch
of Mt.
Pleasant Mills RR1; one daughter, Carol L. Kauffman of Newport RR1; two
brothers, Leslie
C. Hockenbroch of Millerstown RR2, and Leon Hockenbroch of Newport RR1;
one sister,
Myrna Buckley of Liverpool RR1; and seven grandchildren. Preceding him
in death were his
father and two sons, Gene and Alan Hockenbroch, both in a fatal auto accident
in 1973.
Mr. Hockenbroch was educated in the Susquehanna Township schools. He worked
for various
firms, including Phoenix Iron & Steel Co., Harrisburg, the Pennsylvania
Railroad, Enola
Yards; New Cumberland Army Depot; Mechanicsburg Navy Depot; the former
Capital Products,
Mechanicsburg; and Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, Juniata County
Department
of Highways; and retiring from Poloron Homes, Middleburg, after 15 years,
due to
disability. Mr. Hockenbroch was Methodist by faith. His memberships included:
Liverpool
Volunteer Fire Company and Ambulance League, Liverpool, and the American
Association of
Retired Persons. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and gardening and was an
avid race fan.
The funeral service was conducted from the George P. Garman Funeral Home.

James and Minnie (Rhoads) Hoffman. He was retired from the former Hampton,
Snyder and Seed's
Lumber Co.; served as New Bloomfield tax collector for 33 years; was a
Perry County
Republican committeeman; and was a member of New Bloomfield United Methodist
Church, Mahoney
Lodge 428 IOOF, New Bloomfield Lions Club, New Bloomfield Fire Company,
and The Perry
Historians. He was the widower of Harriet V. Hoffman. Surviving are a daughter,
Ann Burd
Campbell of Dover; a granddaughter; a step-granddaughter; and a great-grandson.
Services were
held Aug. 13 in Boyer Funeral Home, New Bloomfield, with the Rev. Peter
Beddia officiating.
Burial was in Bloomfield Cemetery.

[Arnold] Nealman. Her
husband, Homer D. Hosler preceded her in death October 24, 1975. She is
survived by eight

was preceded in death

Nealman and a sister, Sara Zimmerman. She was affiliated with New Covenant
Church, Port
Royal, and she was a homemaker. Funeral services were held Saturday, August

September 13, 1920, in Milford Township, Juniata County, he was a son of
the late Herman M.
and Maude [Suloff] Houtz. He is survived by his wife, Pearl [Lebkicher]
Houtz, whom he

in death by a
sister, Allene H. Wise. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World
War II as a
scout in the 781st Tank Battalion. He retired from Pennsylvania Department
of Transportation
in Juniata County and was also a farmer. He was a member of St. Stephen's
Lutheran Church,
Mifflintown RR3. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Guss
Funeral Home, 20 S.
Third Street, Mifflintown, with Rev. Ronald Shupe officiating. Interment
will be at St.
Stephen's Lutheran Cemetery, Licking Creek Valley, where graveside military
honors will be
provided by the Juniata County Veterans Council. Family will receive friends
from 10:00 a.m.
to the time of services Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions

County, he was a son of the late Martin M. and Bertha E. [Kauffman] Kauffman.
His wife, M.
Elizabeth "Betty" [Gledhill] Kauffinan, whom he married November 8, 1934,

a brother, C. Roscoe Kauffman, in December of 1995. He attended Fayette
High School,
McAlisterville. He graduated from Pennsylvania State Police Training School
in 1929 and
served with the state police until 1936. He was later appointed State College
Borough Chief
of Police, where he served until 1940, before being appointed senior hearing
inspector for
the State Bureau of Highway Safety in Harrisburg. In 1947, he was elected
to the first of
three terms as Centre County sheriff. He was then elected to four successive
terms as
Centre County prothonotary, serving until his retirement in 1976. On his
80th birthday, the
Senate of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania paid tribute to him for the
more than 47 years
of public service. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Bellefonte,
where he
served as a trustee. He later became a member of Lost Creek Presbyterian
Church,
McAlisterville, was a former member of the kiwanis and Elks clubs, Bellefonte
and the Odd
Fellows Club, Howard. Services were held Monday at Lost Creek Presbyterian
Church,
McAlisterville, with Rev. Elaine L. Fogarty officiating. Interment was
in the church
cemetery. The Ronald C. Sheaffer Funeral Home, McAlisterville, was in charge
of

Local 1940. Services
were held Thursday at Lauver's United Methodist Church with Rev. David
Plank officiating.

later retired as a salesman with 42 years of service from the Electrolux
Corporation. He was
a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, Mifflintown, where he served as Sunday
school
superintendent for 12 years and was a member and past president of the
church council. He was
a charter member and past president of Mifflin/Mifflintown Lions Club,
past president of the
Water Authority, and a former school director for Fermanagh-Mifflintown
School District.
Services were held Monday at Messiah Lutheran Church, Mifflintown, with
Rev. William N.
Esborn officiating. Interment was in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Nook.

in the United States
Army during World War II. He was a retired foreman for Penn Central Railroad.
He was a life
member of Selinsgrove Moose. In addition to his wife, he is survived by

Dorsey of Baltimore, MD. He was preceded in death by two brothers, George
and Fred, and two
sisters, Rita Broscious and Lorraine Stiner. The funeral service was held

Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where he was admitted Saturday evening,
August 31. He
had been under a doctor's care for the past six years. Born March 26, 1920
at Meiserville,
Snyder County, he was the son of the late Joseph G. and Esther Kratzer
Kerstetter. March
27, 1942, he married the former Virginia Mae [Winters-Dangler-Herrold],
who survives. Mr.
Kerstetter attended Locust Grove School at Snyder County. He served in
the U.S. Army during
WWII. Inducted into the military service March 28, 1942, he served with
the 33rd General
Hospital as a technician fifth grade in the European-African-Middle Eastern
Theatre,
earning two Bronze Stars. He was honorably discharged September 25, 1945.
Mr. Kerstetter
was employed at Trailco Manufacturing Sales Co. of Hummels Wharf as a parts
manager and
then by Dorsey Trailers, Inc. until June 1, 1983, his retirement, for a
total of 36 years.
He was a member of Paradise United Methodist Church, Port Trevorton RR1,
and a member of
Local No. 1868 U.A.W., Hummels Wharf. His life memberships were Dauntless
Hook and Ladder
Fire Company, Selinsgrove, Shamokin Dam Fire Co. No. 1, American Legion
Post No. 364,
Liverpool, Dauntless Hook and Ladder Ambulance League, Selinsgrove, Medic
61, Evangelical

Association of Retired Persons. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. In addition

KISER, HULDA MAE ------ Mrs. Hulda M. Kiser, 85, of Liverpool, died
at 7:00 p.m. Monday, September 2, 1996 at
Polyclinic Medical Center, Harrisburg, where she had been admitted earlier
that day. Mrs.
Kiser had been in declining health for the past three years. Born at Seven
Stars, Juniata
County, October 18, 1910, she was the daughter of the late Charles McClellan
and Chestie Ann
Shadel Fisher. She was first married to Ira Wolfgang, who died at an early
age in 1942; later
Mrs. Kiser married Samuel George Kiser, who also preceded her in death
in 1980. Mrs. Kiser
was educated in the Juniata County rural schools. She was a seamstress
for Eileen Hope
Manufacturing Company, Liverpool, for many years, retiring in 1973. Lutheran
by faith, Mrs.
Kiser had attended years ago the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd,
Liverpool. She was a
member of Liverpool Ambulance League and was an accomplished seamstress
and loved to bake.
Surviving are her niece, Mrs. Patricia J. Campbell, and her husband William
and son Scott W.
Campbell, with whom she made her home for the past 16 years. Mrs. Kiser
also raised Mrs.
Campbell. Also surviving are two brothers, Melvin Fisher, Dauphin, and
Henry Fisher,
Millerstown RR2, and two sisters, Helen O. Strawser Richfield RR1, and
Joanna Knouse, Mt.
Pleasant Mills RR2. Mrs. Kiser was preceded in death by one daughter, Virginia
(Hazel V], in
infancy; one brother, Raymond Fisher; and two sisters, Dorothy Wingert
and Chestie M., in
infancy. The funeral service was conducted Friday from the George P. Garman
Funeral Home,
Liverpool, with Rev. Celo V. Leitzel officiating. Interment was made in
St. James United
Methodist Cemetery, Millerstown RR2. Memorial contributions may be given

whom she married in Richfield April 9, 1950; one son, Steven L. Lauver

and Diana K. Lauver,
McAlisterville; two sisters, Julia Hepner, McAlisterville RR2, and Evelyn

Royal; three brothers, Russell Bassler and Robert "Ken" Bassler, both of
East Salem, and
Ronald Bassler, Central City; six grandsons; and one great-granddaughter.
She was predeceased
by a sister, Maxine Pennabaker, and two brothers, Walter Bassler and Raymond
Bassler. She
attended Crossroads School, Maze. She was employed as a seamstress at the
Thompsontown Shirt
Factory as a teenager, until 1949, then as a nurse's aide at the Harrisburg
State Hospital,
until 1961, and until 1962 as a nurse's aide at Nipple's Nursing Home,
Maze. She then
returned to work in the garment factories at Port Royal, McAlisterville
and Mifflin until her
retirement due to ill health in 1976. She had previously lived in Thompsontown
and
Harrisburg. She was a member of Thompsontown United Methodist Church, where
she assisted in
preparing the senior citizens' dinners. She loved reading, gardening and
doing puzzles. The
funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 3, at Thompsontown
United Methodist
Church, with Rev. David Biser officiating. Interment will follow in Richfield
Union Cemetery,
Richfield. The Ronald C. Sheaffer Funeral Home, McAlisterville, is in charge

Peabody, Lewistown and with Shellenberger & Sons Shirt Factories in
East Salem and
McAlisterville. She was later employed as an aide at Coldren's Nursing
Home, Mifflintown,
from 1966 until her retirement in 1972. She was a member of McAlisterville
United Methodist
Church, McAlisterville Senior Citizens Center, O.A.S.I.S., Mifflintown,
McAlisterville Fire
Co. Auxiliary and helped to establish the first program for mentally retarded
citizens in
Juniata County. Services were held Tuesday at the Ronald C. Sheaffer Funeral
Home.
McAlisterville, with Rev. James R. Sunderland Jr. officiating. Interment
was in Hillside

Church, Elliottsburg, the New Bloomfield Senior Citizens Center, Newport
Moose lodge,
Landisburg Fire Company and Landisburg Ambulance Club. He was the widower
of Gertrude I.
Hower Reeder. Surviving are four sons, William B. of Port Royal, Kenneth
F. of Cornwall, Boyd
M. of Green Park and David W. of Blain; a sister, Thelma Ricedorf of Green
Park; eight
grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

was private
and held at the convenience of the family in the Westminster Presbyterian

Susquehanna Township, Juniata County, died at
2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 28, 1996, at Community General Osteopathic
Hospital, Harrisburg,
following a heart attack August 23. Born May 31, 1921 at Juniata unty she
was the daughter of
the late Harvey and Mabel Kauffman Hertzler. February 12, 1939, she married
Earl Uriah
Sheaffer, who preceded her in death October 16, 1994. Mrs. Sheaffer attended
the Juniata
County schools. She and her husband were engaged in farming for over 50
years. She was also
employed with PennDOT, Harrisburg, where she was a supervisor in the motor
licensing
department for 20 years, retiring March 28, 1983. She was active in politics,
following the
political arena closely. She volunteered her time in driving people to
the polls at election
time. Mrs. Sheaffer also believed in spending quality time with her children,
grandchildren
and great-grandchildren. She was an avid baker and an accomplished seamstress.
Her
memberships included St. Paul's [Leininger's] Lutheran Church, Mt. Pleasant
Mills RR2, where
she was also a member of the adult women's Sunday school class. She baked
many pies for
church functions. She was also a member of the Liverpool Fire Company and
Ambulance League
and the Birthday "ChitChat" Club at Oriental. Surviving are one son, James
E. Sheaffer,
Liverpool RR1; four daughters, JoAnn "Sue" Schell, Harrisburg, Margaret
"Peg" A. Mitchell,
Newport RR2, Kay L. Wetzel, Selinsgrove RR3, and Wanda L. Knouse, Liverpool
RR1; one brother,
James E. Hertzler, Welda, KS; two sisters, Mary Ellen Zerbe, Nazareth,

Factory, Lewistown, for 16 years. She was last employed as owner/operator
of Shilling's

Club. He was the
widower of M. Joyce Reisinger Sheriff. Surviving are two sons, Donald S.

a missionary to
India for 14 years and was a retired schoolteacher, having taught at Fayette
Elementary
School and Juniata Mennonite School. She was a member of Cedar Grove Brethren
in Christ
Church, where she served as the congregational secretary and founded the
Sunshine Class for
the developmentally disabled. She was also a member of the Juniata County
Association of
Retired School Employees, was a tutor with the Juniata County Library Literacy
Program and
volunteered with Juniata County Meals on Wheels. A rnemorial service was
held Monday at Cedar
Grove Brethren in Christ Church, with Rev. Kenneth Letner officiating.

72, Richfield. He also served in various offices in the church and was
a member of the board
of directors of Evangelical Methodist Church Camp, Oakland Mills. Services

2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Richfield Evangelical Methodist Church, HC 72, Richfield,
with the
Rev. Kenneth Walter officiating. Interment will be in the Richfield Union
Cemetery. The

Mechanicsburg. Services were held Aug. 3 in Brookfield, Wis. Burial was
in Wisconsin Memorial

She was the beloved wife of the late Michael Tusa; the loving mother of

Rose Marie Lacognata; and the devoted sister of Angelina Spinosa and Jean
Ribaudo. She is
also survived by five grandchildren, Karen Adler, Lori Hare, William Giarratana
III, Janine
Luthld and Vincent Lacognata Jr., and 14 great-grandchildren. The funeral
service was
conducted from the J. Rocciola Funeral Home, Hackensack, NJ. Burial mass
was from St. Francis

and Leslie Towsey. She was preceded in death by an infant sister. She was
a 1933 graduate of
Newport High School, a member of Port Royal United Methodist Church and
a 50-year member of
Mifflin Chapter No. 260 Order of the Eastern Star, Mifflintown. Services

Walton. He was raised by his grandmother, the late Edith Palm. His wife,
Barbara J.
[Bingaman] Walton, whom he married June 1, 1974, survives. Also surviving

Beaver Springs, the Beaver Springs Fire Co., where he served as trustee
and was a member of
the Beaver Springs Fire Police, where he served as captain. He was also
a member of the Free
and Accepted Masons Lodge No. 640 and Heiser-Hoffman Veterans of Foreign
Wars Post No. 5640,
both of Middleburg and was a dual member of the American Legion Post No.
942, McClure, where
he was also a charter member of the Sons of the American Legion and was
its first commander.
He worked for SEDA-COG as a crew chief for weatherization and basic home
improvements from
1989-1993. Earlier in life, he worked for Poloron Homes in the repair division
for three
years and Wood-Mode Industries for nine years. He served in the U.S. Army.
Services were held
Saturday at the Christ United Church of Christ, Beaver Springs, with the
Rev. David Meckley
officiating. Interment was in the Beaver Springs Cemetery. The Aurand Funeral
Homes Inc., was
in charge of arrangements. Masonic services were held on Friday. Memorial

Lewistown Hospital, where he had been a patient since August 27. Born June

Lewistown, he was the son of the late Hubert Weaver and Emma [Leister]
Weaver of Lewistown.
He attended Mifflin County schools. He was employed for several years at
Bendix Homes,
Middleburg, and later at Knarr Bros. Construction as a painter. He retired
in the late '70s
due to his health. He was a member of Brooklyn Fire Co., Lewistown. In
addition to his
mother, he is survived by two daughters, Candy L. Collins, Disputanta,
VA, and Cindy Losch,
McAlisterville RR1; one son, Andy Weaver, Millerstown; one sister, Loretta
Blystone,
Lewistown; two brothers, Donald E. Lauver, Mt. Pleasant Mills, and Clarence
Weaver, Milroy;
and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father; one son,
Terry, in 1989; and
one grandson, Jason Losch, in 1995. A graveside service was conducted Wednesday,

1960, survives.

Belleville and Lewistown. He was a member of Barrville Mennonite Church,

Chiropractic Association, Pennsylvania Chiropractors Association, Christian
Businessmen's
Association and the Gideon's. He retired in 1995 from the Youth For Christ
board. He was
involved with child evangelism in Mifflintown and was a 1947 graduate of
Palmer College of
Chiropractic. Services were held Saturday at Lost Creek Mennonite Church,
Mifflintown RR2,
with Rev. Gerald Peachey and Rev. Elam Glick officiating. Interment was
in Lost Creek
