Food Page featuring recipes from Grinch!

If you're sick of the canned stuff or the boring dry varieties of stuff the Slaves often try to pass off as real food, slide these recipes under their noses and make 'em cook for ya! Tasty and healthy! Yummmm!

TWO NEW RECIPES from Jane and Rebel!

Jane's Favorite Treat

2 flat cans of sardines in oil
2/3 C. cooked rice
1 T. liver
1/4 C. parsley, chopped

Combine all ingredients. Stir with a wooden spoon to break up sardines into bite-sized pieces. Store unused portion in refrigerator, tightly covered.

Rebel's Magnificent Munchies

1/2 C. mackerel, drained
1 C. whole-grain bread crumbs
1 T. vegetable oil
1 egg, beaten
1/2 tsp. brewer's yeast, optional

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a medium-sized bowl, mash the mackerel with a fork into tiny pieces. Combine it with the remaining ingredients and mix well. Drop mixture by 1/4 teaspoonfuls onto a greased cookie sheet. Bake for 8 minutes. Cool to room temperature and store in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Purrs to all!

Anchovie Delight

1 can anchovies, packed in oil
1 C. bread crumbs, fresh or packaged
1 egg, or 2 oz. egg beaters

Mix all well. Roll into small (1/4" diameter) balls and bake on a greased cookie sheet (I cover a sheet with foil and spray with PAM) in a 325 degree oven for 5-7 minutes. Cool and store in a covered container in the refrigerator.

Kitty Hash Browns

1 C. shredded raw potato (I use the Simply Potatoes!)
1 C. grated cheese-the finer the better
1 egg, beaten

Mix all well. Line a jellyroll pan or cookie sheet with foil. Spray with PAM. Place above mixture in the pan and flatten out and compress tightly. Bake in a 300 degree oven for 15 minutes, or until top turns golden. Cool. Cut into very small squares. Refrigerate.

Tabby Magnifico a la Grinch

1 egg, boiled 5 minutes
3 T. boned salmon, cooked
2 tsp. cottage cheese
1-2 T. cotage cheese

Place the egg and the salmon in a bowl and mash them together with a fork. Stir in the cottage cheese and wheat germ. Serve.

Rice Deluxe

4 T. cooked lamb, diced (lamb baby food works just as well when you don't have left over lamb!)
1/3 C. cooked brown or white rice
1 T. steamed mixed vegetables, chopped
1 T. leftover gravy

In a bowl, combine the lamb and rice. Stir in the vegetables Stir the gravy into the bowl. Serve.

Kitten Nipper #1

1/3 C. cooked oatmeal
1/4 tsp. warm milk
1/4 tsp. honey

Place the oatmeal in a bowl. Add the warm milk to make a smooth mixture. Pour honey on top, mix and serve warm, not hot.

Tuna Whiz-ard

1 sm. can tuna in spring water
1 hard-boiled egg
1 tsp. cheez-whiz

Place the tuna in the bowl of a food processor, blender or a mini-chopper. Pulse until the fish is a paste. Empty into a small container. Smush up the egg with a fork. Heat the cheez-whiz in the microwave until runny. Mix the egg and cheez with the tuna. Let cool. Feed one serving to your cat NOW (She WILL be right there with you, as she smells the tuna before you can!) and refrigerate the rest.

Cheez-ee Chicken

Replace the tuna in the above recipe with 1/2 chicken breast-poached or boiled and 1-2 T. of chicken broth.

Randolph's Special Treat

1 tsp. cooked chicken, minced or 1 T. babyfood chicken
1 egg yolk, cooked and smashed
1 tsp. babyfood (stage 1 or 2) vegetable (we like carrots)
Mix all well in a bowl and warm slightly in the microwave. Serve warm, not hot.

Rebel's Hearty Stew (Rebel is Grinch's partner in crime)

2/3 C. water
1/2 C. bottled gravy or beef bouillon
1/2 C. Veg-All mixed vegetables, smashed up
1/2 C. cooked beef or chicken, minced.
(the Slave puts ours in the food processor, as I lost 6 teeth this past summer and can't chew well)
2 T. mashed potatoes (Slave uses the instant kind)

Mix all in a saucepan and cook over low heat until warm. Serve in a bowl,
warm or hot. Yield: 2 meals

Human/Cat favorite:
Cheesy-Crab Delight

1 pkg. Stouffer's Welsh Rarebit
2 cans flaked crab OR 1 cup fake crab meat
Pita Bread Triangles
Pick through the canned crab meat and take out cartilage
Prepare the Welsh Rarebit as directed on the package. Stir in the crab, or the
fake stuff that has been well flaked. Heat well.
Keep in a chafing dish or electric fondue pot that is set on low. Serve on
toasted Pita triangles or dip chopped veggies into it. Rebel and Grinch both like it
plain, on a saucer, just to lap up.
