Q: Oh wise and royal kitties, why does my cat bother me when I'm on the phone? Q: Oh wise and royal kitties, why do cats' eyes glow in the dark? A: Well, what do you expect us to think when you're talking into an inanimate object? We think you're talking to us. We're just answering (surprise!)
A: Although we prefer you to believe the glow of our eyes is one of our many magical and mystical qualities, we'll tell you the truth: a membrane called tapetum lucidum coats our eyes and reflects light, giving the appearance of "glowing in the dark."
A: You shower every day, don't you? We're just washing regularly, like you. We really only spend about a third of our days grooming ... okay, that might sound like a lot, but consider this: cats don't sweat. We lose moisture through grooming, instead. A: We hiss when we're attempting to repulse an enemy. Or something we're afraid of. Not that we get frightened often, of course... many people say we're imitating snakes, because snakes are one of the most feared creatures around. The truth is, snakes are imitating us. Really. They are.
A: Never fear! We're not stupid. We are collapsible! Well, not really, but it would seem like it. See, we don't have collarbones like humans. Plus, our chest cavities are rather small. This allows us to squeeze into little hiding spots where we can watch quietly and formulate our next plan of attack...
