Our New Home -- page 3

lemonquat treeOn the left is one of our many fruit trees. This one is a lemonquat tree, which appears to bear fruit year-round. It's on the side of the house, just past the front door. The fruits are very small (like a kumquat, but they're lemons) and I like to cut them in half and just drop them in a cup of tea.

lemon treeOn the right is our lemon tree. It's located at the back corner of our property. You can't see it here, but this tree is currently bearing fruit and the lemons are fairly large. Between the lemonquat tree and the lemon tree is an apple tree that bore fruit in late summer. Behind the lemon tree (what a strange place to put it) is a big cactus (a "sabra").

more treesThese are some of our other fruit trees. They look pretty sad here because none of them really have any fruit on them right now (and some of them don't even have leaves at the moment), but when it gets warmer, they will be beautiful. In this picture, you can see the grapefruit tree towards the right at the back of the property and the pomegranate tree closest to the camera, both of which were bearing fruit when we bought the house. On the far left, a very young guava tree. We didn't even know we had a guava tree until Friday -- we were sitting out back and we saw something small and yellow on the tree. We picked it and knew by the smell that it was guava. We ate it, of course, and it was delicious! There were two ripe fruits on the tree, two on the ground and two more ripening fruits (still green) on the tree. The fruits are tiny, apparently because the tree is so young, but that doesn't make them any less tasty! Behind the pomegranite tree is a dead tree that needs to be removed. There's another fruit tree in the back corner of the property (on the left), but we're not sure what it is -- there are a few dried up fruits on the tree, but they're unrecognizable. We think that it's some kind of summer fruit -- maybe peaches or plums. We'll find out in the summer!
