MERRY CHRISTMAS! |
I LOVE Christmas! This is a report I wrote about a book I read during this Christmas season. I learned a lot and I bet you would too! |
By Lillie Patterson Report By Al Joy! Joy! Joy was all over everywhere. Soldiers laid down the weapons they carried, the rich joined the poor and EVERYONE had a lot of food and wine. Christmas Feasts and Festivals is a book with several stories about Christmas. The book has tales of old Christmas tradition. One of my favorite subjects is history. It was wonderful to discover how people celebrated Christmas in the past. One starry Christmas Eve, Martin Luther walked though a snow covered forest. He saw a little firtree then took it home and covered it with candles. And that is how the Christmas tree became so popular. When Prince Albert married Queen Victoria of England, he set up a Christmas tree in Windsor castle. After that, the fashion spread rapidly. This is how Christmas got its name. It used to be "Christ's Mass," which was later shortened to "Christmas." When you read this book, I'm sure you will enjoy it as much as I did.
