Q: How can I adopt a pet?

A: Any County resident may adopt an animal from our shelter. Identification reflecting your current address must be presented with the application form. If you lease a house or apartment, permission to keep a pet must be verified from the landlord. The adoption staff will then perform a house check before approving the application to ensure that the pet adopted will be in a safe and caring environment. Q: How do I obtain a pet license?

A: A pet license application may be obtained from the Prince George's County Animal Management Facility, College Park Animal Control (301) 864-5585 or Bowie Animal Control (301) 262-8200. When submitting the application to the Prince George's County Animal Management Facility, a copy of the current rabies vaccination certificate, a copy of the spay/neuter certificate (if applicable) and a check or money order payable to Prince George's County for the required fees must be included. Q: Where do I call to report a missing, vicious or injured animal?

A: Call the Animal Management Division at (301) 499-8300. Be prepared to provide additional information as appropriate, such as type of animal, place where last seen, condition of the animal, and other details.

A: For information on low cost spaying or neutering, call the Spay/Neuter Assistance Program at (301) 459-6731 or the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) at (301) 262-5625.
