Fried Marbles
Materials:
- a bag of cheap, clear marbles
- a small frying pan (a cheap one if possible)
- a plastic tub, half-full of cold water
Instructions:
- Place half-a-dozen marbles into a frying pan. Place on the stove
and heat gently on medium-low heat for ten to twenty minutes.
- Once the marbles are hot, carefully pour them into the tub of cold
water. If done correctly, the insides of the marbles should crack, without
shattering the entire marble. BE CAREFUL, some of the marbles might
shatter.
** Note: The reason why the marbles crack is that heating them causes the
glass to expand. When the marbles are dumped into the cold water, the glass
is forced to contract very quickly, causing the inside to crack.
