The
Ruttan
Family Tree
|
|
Welcome to the RUTTAN family tree. - The
Ruttan family traces its roots to the Dutchy of Lorraine (France). The earliest recorded
ancestor was Claudin Ruttan, (ca. 1564-1613). His great grandson, Abraham Ruttan
(1658-1713) sailed to America in 1675, married Marie Petitlion and raised a large family.
I am descended from Abraham's great grandson, Captain Peter Ruttan, U.E., who settled in
Upper Canada in 1784, following the American Revolution. Most of the family that remained
in the United States spell the name Rutan. Other variations include Retan, Reton, and
Rattan. |

On Saturday, June 19, 1999, the Bay

1959 by the Ontario government as a lasting U.E.L. memorial. For specific details and

LDS Genealogy Web Site
According to a Memorandum
dated February 28, 1999, the Family History Department of The Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints is developing a new Internet service designed to help people find and
share family history information. The memo states: "A beta test of the FamilySearch
Internet Genealogy Service will be conducted beginning sometime in March 1999. When
ready for testing, it can be found on the World Wide Web at www.familysearch.org. The web site
will only be active for a few weeks. Although the Internet is not authorized for use in
Church buildings, including Family History Centers, we are making you aware of the be beta
test plans because patrons may ask about the service. When the results of the beta test
have been reviewed, a formal announcement will be made regarding the future of this
service." |
