There are many riches in this old world,
And I have very few,
I'm so close to the poorhouse,
I'm on Step Number Two.
"How can you praise Him night and day?"
The worldly people say.
"How can you praise Him so earnestly,
And still live this way?"
Patiently I tell them
Of the Saviour's plan for me,
And why the worldly riches,
Mean not a thing to me.
For when I die my Saviour has
A place for me on high.
I will leave this earthly poorhouse,
For my mansion in the sky.
He has my mansion ready,
Waiting just for me --
Jesus standing at the door,
His arms outstretched to me.
His love will then enfold me
With peace and serenity,
I will be home forevermore,
Where God means for me to be.
So I'm happy in my poorhouse,
And I'll praise my Lord on high,
I will do each thing He asks of me,
And Him I'll not deny.
For when this life is over,
And the trumpet blows on high,
I will leave this earthy poorhouse,
For my mansion in the sky.
Remember Jesus saith I am the way, the truth, and the life, no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
