The site is the best I have seen for dog tricks. It has given me a lot of ideas and renewed my enthusiasm for training. I find she picks things up very quickly if I know what I am doing. Its not the dog that needs training its the owner.

Have you ever thought of adding spinning to your tricks ? I just hold a treat over their heads and make circular motions . Now they both do it on command . Its really fun, they both go in different directions.If you tell them spin they will spin several t mes until they get the treat. Its just an idea, you have a really good sight.

I got Jake on Christmas of '99 and when I soon figured out that he was briliant! He got parvo when he was about 4-5 months of age and overcame it! I wanted to spend every minute I could with him, and also teach him tricks. I had run out of ideas so I w nt to the internet for some. I had went to ALOT of different places and I wasn't to crazy about them. Then I came across your site and I absolutly love it! I wanted to mention that I also use Hand commands along with word commands in training Dexter. Since he LOVES treats, he always watches my hands, a FIST means SIT, STAY is a hand in the face, DOWN is a pointer finger down and so on.. I make my hand SPEAK, and then he speaks. Sometimes these seem to work better then voice commands..

Dog Trick/Tip. Dexter likes the frisbee and the pull toy, he likes to pull on both of them, and Fetch was not a problem, because he would always come to me with his toy, but DROP IT was hard, because he likes to TUG.. I took small dog treats, and broke them up into little M-n-M size peices. When he came to me with the toy, i said DROP IT, showed him the treat, and then said SIT. after a few times, he would come to me, and drop it and sit without any commands. I moved to different spots, and made sure he came to me, and brought the toy. After a while, the treats were replaced with a GOOD DOG, and a quick throw of the toy again.. something to note, I did not let him see the treat until he got real close, so he did not drop the toy. When we want to play TUG, I just pull back on the toy, but when say DROP IT, he knows what to do..

Nice site! ;o) I just taught my dog how to cover face. Put a piece of tape on top of muzzle and say "cover" give treat and praise when done. Take tape off and repeat. When the dog gets used to "cover" don't use tape. Really cute! Next I'll try the imp :o>
