Hunting Method: A solitary, and strategic hunter. When older, prefers to take the prey animal, or most of the prey animal in a bite or two.
Comments: The infamous Brazilian Black Piranha is possibly the most vicious of all piranhas. It will not tolerate tankmates, and can pose a real danger to anything when it grows over 10". It must be kept by itself in a very large tank, and only by experienced piranha owners. The mere existence of S.niger is still a controversial subject.
