William was a veteran of the Civil War, joining Company F, 167th Penna. Regulars on November 12, 1862, and was discharged on August 12, 1863.

William lived in upper Berks county and followed farming in Tulpehocken township for some years, later moving to Bethel township where he died. He is buried at Rehrersburg, in Tulpehocken Township, at the Union Church.

3. WALLACE MILTON3 ANSPACH (OSCAR2, WILLIAM1) was born September 03, 1878 in Berks County, PA. He married MARY SMITH 1897, daughter of HARRY SMITH.

Wallace attended public school in his home township and the subscription school at Strausstown. He began teaching in 1895 and has followed the profession ever since, with eminent success, for he is heartily interested in his work. In 1901, he was elected Justice of the Peace, and still holds that office, for the duties of which he is still fitted. He is one of the well known men of upper Berks County, and in the pursuit of his vocation and social connections has made a wide acquaintanceship and formed numerous friendships. He is a member of the P.O. S. of A. and the I.O.O.F., has served as financial secretary of the former, and a building committee member which had charge of the erection of the fine new Odd Fellows Hall, also serving as financial secretary of that body. He is a member of the Citizens Band at Strausstown. In religious matters, Mr. Anspach is identified with the Reformed denomination, and he is a prominent member of and worker in the Zion's Blue Mountain Union Church. He served on the building committee at the time the present edifice was erected in 1904, was secretary, and is at present trustee of the church and has served as secretary of the church council since 1902.
