Housing your Cavy

Your cavy needs protection from the elements as well as potential predators..
(cast,dogs,birds of prey)..

So please keep your cavy warm during the cold winter months & cool during the summer...NEVER leave you cavy exposed to the sun for long periods of time & ensure there is fresh water accessable at all times..

Make sure your cage is draft proof & your cavy has a covered in area to retreat to...Also the cage needs to water proof..

A guide to cavy cage sizes:
40 cm's x 60 cm's is a good base size for each cavy..Naturally if you have more cavies the cage needs to increse in size..
Boars need their own cage..so consider this if you buy a pair..
Sows will happily live together..
