Not homeschooling yet. Trying to ask questions of others doing it. 10 year old starts next school year. 2 year old in process always, of course. New one to make entrance in August. How do you manage with the little ones around? Is it actually easier than I think to accomplish the schooling part when infants/toddlers need so much attention? Of course I have lots of other questions, too, but I'll spare you for now. Thanks!

Hi Kathy! I got on line over here in Duluth, Minn. at the library. This is really neat! It's free too! I had just grabbed a book of short stories to pass the time and came upstairs to read when I found these 'puters available. Can't seem to send e-ma l but at least I can sign in the ol' guestbook! All is well; I checked out of the hotel, the boat should be here tonight. The personnel guy told me the engineer I'm relieving has broken his foot somehow and I'll be on the M/V Gott 'til he heals up; poor guy, that'll take some time. I know more than I'd like about broken bones! Listened to blues by "Azure du jour" last night on Superior St. in Duluth. It was wonderful! Met some really nice people, chatted with the drummer Joe too, and he was a good guy, very busy man too. Well, that's all for now I guess, will try to send e-mail again, write your sister a line if I can. We'll see ya later! --Steverino!

This spring my high school age daughter participated in an online class on Romeo and Juliet and then I taught one Jane Eyre and right now as a family we a e doing one on geneology. I think that you have a very attractive family. Your children are very cute. Can I have your Harley??hahaha The child that I homeschool is PDD/Autistic. He falls in the profound range of disABILITIES, and I am teaching him basic living skills. He cannot talk, and he has to wear diapers, and he cannot dress himself, but he can sure help with household chores, a d he can even load the dishwasher. He loves to help me around our home. I decided to homeschool him when he came home with fingernail marks on his neck,and after talking to the teacher. She admitted to grabbing him around the neck, but said that she did not mean to leave fingernail marks. He will never go to that school again The Principal was very defensive of the teacher.

The child that I homeschooling is PDD, and is Profoundly disabled. He was coming home with fingernail marks on his throat, and torn shirts, so I finally figured it was time to teach him at home. He cannot talk, but he is able to learn basic living skills. He loves to help me around our home. He is very skilled when it comes to chores here at our home. He is eleven years old, and I adopted him when he was five. I have six adopted children.

This is a great site! I can totally relate to the "daring to eat candy in the open." That's great. Having a little one around is making me relearn all about the importance of shaaaaring...or, eating in the kitchen, in the dark, real quiet. But with five kiddos I imagine even being real quiet doesn't work. I'm kind of scared about homeschooling but my husband and I have agreed it is the best route to take for our little one. homeschooling comments: i was homeschooled for one year (6th grade equivalent) when elem. school got to me. i don't know how long you intend to homeschool your children (i.e. do you intend them to go to high school for jump from homeschool to college) bu there is one thing to be careful of (which i have noticed from some current friends) is that many children's parents run out of the kind of conceptual and theoretical knowledge necessary to prepared their children for college. For example, my dad knows lot about math, and my mother knows a lot about history, but neither of them know anything about chemistry. they know enough to carry me through middle school, but not much further in certain subjects. another thing to look for is in colleges - in many schools, even large research institutions like the University of Minnesota, have programs for 'underage' (<18) students. I began in one such program at 16 and it was the best thing for me. your children may be a little young to start at a college, but it might worth checking for local programs. kate

Personally, I like where I go to school--Thomas Jefferson High School for Science a d Technology. TJHSST is a magnet school though. Honestly, if I were homeschooled, I do not think I could some of the things that I do at school now. (I do a lot of computer stuff that I'm sure my parents couldn't afford.) But that doesn't mean homeschool ng isn't good too. Actually, I'm very open minded to homeschooling, but, my kids are probably 10 years or so away, so I've got time. William
