When Benjamin WELLS died before 13 Aug 1811, his widow, Nancy Wells, was appointed administrator with Amos COHEA and Garrett FLIPPO as security on 13 Aug 1811 in Robertson Co, TN. This was located on the waters of Sulphur fork of Red River being part of a tract of 640 acres granted to John NICHOLS by the State of NC, Grant #708, dated 11 Jul 1788, being the part which fell to Garrett FLIPPO on division and distinguished by lot #6.

He was mustered into service for the War of 1812 on 20 Sep 1814 in Fayetteville, Tennessee. He served in the military during the War of 1812. He served in the 2nd Regiment, West Tennessee Militia Infantry, Capt Gabriel MASTIN's Co, under Col Alexander LOWRY, Lt Col HAMMONS and Brig Genl Nathaniel TAYLOR. He was mustered out of service on 10 Apr 1815 at Wilsons Springs, Madison Co, Mississippi Territory. The 2nd Regiment was stationed at Fort Mobile. They suffered much from disease with half the men on the sick roll at times.

He received a deed from Thomas McINTOSH for 50 acres, acknowledged in court & ordered to be registered in May 1815 in Robertson Co, TN. He received a court order in May 1815 in Robertson Co, TN to oversee the road leading from Springfield to Russelville as far as Spellers road and that he and 13 others were to keep said road in repair.

He paid $1 to Thomas McINTOSH for 52 acres on 8 May 1815 in Robertson Co, TN. It was located on the waters of Sulphur fork of Red River being part of a tract of 640 acres granted to John NICHOLS by the State of NC, grant #708, dated 11 Jul 1788, being the part which fell to Jonathan PRICE on division and distinguished as lot #5 on the Russellville Road. He paid $23 to Thomas McINTOSH for 50 acres on 8 May 1815 in Robertson Co, TN. He paid taxes for the year on 50 acres of land and one white poll in Aug 1815 in Robertson Co, TN. He served on jury duty in May and Nov 1816 in Robertson Co, TN.

He deeded 52 acres to John DUNCAN. It was acknowledged in court & ordered to be recorded in 1817 in Robertson Co, TN. He sold 52 acres to John DUNCAN for $160 on 4 Jan 1817 in Robertson Co, TN. He and Benjamin McINTOSH sold 104 acres to Richard CRUNK for $400 on 9 Jul 1817 in Robertson Co, TN. This land was on the waters of Sulphur Fork of Red River, being part of 640 acres granted by State of NC to John NICKOLS, Grant #708, dated 11 Jul 1788, being the part which fell to Benjamin McINTOSH and Jonathan PRICE on division and distinguished by Lot #4 and #5. He served on jury duty in Feb and Nov 1818 in Robertson Co, TN. He and Benjamin McINTOSH deeded 106 acres to Richard CRUNK, acknowledged in court & recorded in Nov 1818 in Robertson Co, TN. He was on the 1820 census in Robertson Co, TN.

He was living in Clark Co, IL in 1830 and was in Carroll Co, AR by 1840.

He died on 15 Dec 1847 in Carroll Co, AR.

He was married to Nancy McINTOSH (probably the daughter of Thomas McINTOSH) on 14 Aug 1804 in Christian Co, Kentucky. Nancy McINTOSH was born about 1783. She died in 1848 in Carroll Co, AR.

iconThomas FLIPPO was born in 1820 in Robertson Co, TN. He was a farmer in Carroll Co, AR. He died in 1860 in Carroll Co, AR in 1850. He received a land patent on 40 acres in the nw 1/4 of nw 1/4 of sec 35, T21N, R20W Cert #10052 on 1 Feb 1860 in Carroll Co, AR, but did not appear on the census that was taken in Sep with the rest of his family. His wife, Eliza J (?) was born in 1822 in MO.

iconGeorge Washington FLIPPO was born abt Jan 1850 in Carroll Co, AR. He was a farmer in 1880 in Omaha Township, Boone Co, AR. He died 14 Apr 1883.

Eliza Jane BLEVINS (daughter of Squire BLEVINS and Rhoda) was born in Jan 1848 in Carroll Co, AR. When her grandson, George Thomas FLIPPO, had rhuematic fever, she nursed him back to health. She died aft 1922.

iconThomas Wesley "Tom" FLIPPO (pic) (aka: Thomas Jefferson FLIPPO) was born on 22 Jul 1879 in Denver, Boone Co, AR. He purchased 40 acres on the sw 1/4 of nw 1/4 of section 35, T20N, R20W on 16 Aug 1895 in Carroll Co, AR. He resided in 1904 in Carroll Co, AR. He was a farmer in Boone Co, AR. He died on 26 Aug 1943 in New Alpena, Boone Co, AR at the home of his daughter, Angie. He was buried on 29 Aug 1943 in the Burlington Cemetery, New Alpena, Boone Co, AR. The funeral service was held at the Church of Burlington at 3 pm. He was also known as Thomas Jefferson FLIPPO. His son, George's, birth certificate plainly shows Thomas W FLIPPO and the W overwritten as a J. [NOTE from growing-tree: The story I heard on that is that he had a cousin, Wesley, that he did not like so he changed his name to Jefferson. As far as I can tell, this was not a legal change, but one that he did on his on. You can find his name listed both ways in different places at different times. Called was referred to as "Poppy" by his daughter, Marie. Angie FLIPPO Kellett grew up knowing him as "Poppy Tom".

He obtained a marriage license on 18 Aug 1904 in Harrison, Boone Co, AR, and married Nancy Angiline HUFF (daughter of Nathaniel Eugene HUFF and Chestina Ann CAUDLE) on 19 Aug 1904 in Boone Co, AR. The ceremony was performed by T M WILLIAMS, JP. Nancy Angiline HUFF was born on 30 Dec 1884 in Norwood, Wright Co, MO. Marie's birth certificate (1922) shows that she had 9 children and 6 are living. George's birth certificate (1914) shows that she had 5 children and 4 are living. She died on 7 Feb 1922 in Omaha Township, Boone Co, AR. She was buried on 8 Feb 1922 in the Blevins Cemetery.

Thomas Wesley "Tom" FLIPPO and Nancy Angiline HUFF had the following children:

iconGeorge Thomas FLIPPO was born on 9 Jul 1914 in Denver, Boone Co, AR. He was born at 2 am. The attending physician was Y B JACKSON.

He was a restaurant chef by profession. His hobbies were hunting, fishing, training hunting dogs, building and repairing guns, welding, and taxidermy. He could do anything he turned his hand to and was good at pencil sketches.

He had his first heart attack at age 28. His heart was enlarged because of the rheumatic fever when he was a baby. He had two heart attacks within two weeks in 1958 in Lamesa, Dawson Co, TX. The doctor said that he did not know how he lived through it. However, this resulted in his being totally disabled. His heart had enlarged to the point where it was crowding his lungs and he had trouble breathing. He died on 23 Aug 1963 in Lamesa, Dawson Co, TX. He was in Medical Arts Hospital for 5 days previous to his death. The time of death was 1:40 pm. He was attended by Dr John P Puckett. He was buried on 28 Aug 1963 in the Lamesa Memorial Park Cemetery, Dawson Co, TX. His death was diagnosed as being caused by nyocardial infarction, coronary thrombosis, artherosclerotic heart disease.

He obtained a marriage license on 7 Oct 1947 in Eldorado, Butler Co, KS. He was married to Ruby Lanita "Nita" McNEW (daughter of James Edward "Jim" McNEW and Minnie WHITEHEAD) on 7 Oct 1947 in Wichita, Sedgwick Co, KS. Ruby Lanita McNEW was born on 11 Mar 1928 in Lamesa, Dawson Co, TX. She attended High School in Lamesa, Dawson Co, TX but did not receive her diploma because she failed chemistry and plain geometry her senior year. Her hobbies are sewing, gardening, crocheting, reading, camping, fishing, and crafts. She was a Girl Scout Leader for 4 years in Lamesa. She was employed as a waitress after her first husband died. She married second and divorced C B BECKHAM. She married third and divorced Billy Joe Whitley.
