Whitehead Rites Conducted Sunday

Funeral services for Mrs Laura Elizabeth Whitehead, 84, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the first Methodist Church of Lamesa. Mrs Whitehead, who had been ill for some time, died Friday in a stanton hospital.
Rev Lloyd Mayhew, pastor of the First Methodist Church, Lamesa, officiated. Burial was in Lamesa Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Arrington Funeral home.
Mrs Whitehead was a native of Winston, Miss. She had made her home in the Dawson-Martin Counties area most of the time since the death of her husband in 1918. Before entering the hospital she lived five miles west of Stanton.
Survivors include two sons, Lucas and Talmadge Whitehead, both of Stanton, two daughters, Mrs Minnie King of Stanton and Mrs Alma Land of Lamesa; a brother, Alfred Arrington, of Louisville, Miss; two sisters, Mrs Lena Rogers and Mrs Zona Palmer, both of Louisville, 12 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

Mrs Mattie Palmer

Services for Mrs Mattie Arrington Palmer, age 79, were conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Vernon Methodist Church with the Rev Robert Hubbard, the Rev J W Gipson and the Rev Paul Wilson officiating. Burial was in Whitehead cemetery under direction of McClain-Hays Funeral Home of Philadelphia.
Mrs Palmer died following a long illness Monday at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr and Mrs Forest Eaves, with whom she had made her home since the death of her husband, Isom Palmer, several years ago. She was a member of the Vernon Methodist Church.
Mrs Palmer leaves one son, Clinton Palmer who lives in Missouri, three daughters, Mrs Clara Kimbro of Kentucky, Mrs Ina Flake of the Bond community and Mrs Eaves of Route 3, one brother, Alfred Arrington of Vernon, three sisters, Mrs Laura Whitehead of El Paso, Texas, Mrs Rena Rogers of Fearn Springs, and Mrs Zonie Palmer of Route 3, 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

JORENA ROGERS

Funeral services for Mrs Jo Rena Rogers, 98, were held October 16 at Westbrook Chapel, with Rev Tommy Jones and Rev Jerry McMullan officiating. Burial was held in the Good Hope Cemetery with Westbrook Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs Rogers, a native of Winston County, died October 14 at Tri-County Nursing Home. She was a housewife and a member of Harmony Baptist Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs Halbert Reed of Louisville; a son, Reginald Rogers of Louisville; 14 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren.
Wendell Rogers, Ronald Rogers, Benny Reed, Hershel Rogers, Reggie Rogers and Bryon Smith served as pallbearers.

Services Held For Mrs Zonie Palmer At Harmony

Funeral services were held for Mrs Zonie Palmer, age 79, at the Harmony Baptist Church, January 27, with the Rev W C Smith, pastor, assisted by Rev Paul Wilson of Cleveland and Rev Leon Ballard of Weir, officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Mrs Palmer died January 26 at the home of her daughter, Mrs Victor Reed, of Route 3, suddenly of an apparent heart attack.
She was a native of Winston County and a member of the Harmony Baptist Church.
Survivors are two daughters, Mrs Reed and Mrs Albert Kemp, of Louisville; one sister, Mrs Rena Rogers of Route 3; five grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

JAMES Q ROGERS

Funeral services for James Quinton Rogers, 66, were held February 21 at Westbrook Chapel with Rev Tommy Jones and Rev Phil Gillis officiating. Interment was held in the Good Hope Cemetery under the direction of Westbrook Funeral Home.
Mr rogers, a native of Winston county, died February 19 at the V A Center in Jackson. He was a retired farmer and was also retired from the Spartus Corp. Mr Rogers was a veteran of World War II in the U S Army, a member of the Winstonville Lodge and a member of Harmony Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs Dwight Kemp Rogers of Louisville; his mother, Mrs Rena Arrington Rogers of Louisville; a daughter, Mrs Becky Smith of Louisville; three sons, Wendell Rogers, Hershel Rogers and Ronald Rogers, all of Louisville; a sister, Mrs Halbert Reed of Louisville; a brother, Reginald Robers of Louisville and four grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Benny Reed, Benny Roy rogers, Marvin rogers, Reggie Rogers, Bernice Rogers, and Bobby Rogers.

ETHEL D ROGERS

Funeral services for Mrs Ethel Dwight rogers, 66, were held November 24 at Westbrook Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Phil Gillis and Rev. Edward Campbell officiating. burial was held in the Good Hope Cemetery with Westbrook Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs Rogers, a lifelong resident of Winston county, died Nov 22 at the Tri-County Nursing Home. She was a housewife and a member of Harmony Baptist church.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs Byron Smith of Louisville; three sons, J Wendell Rogers, Hershel E Rogers and Ronald D Rogers, all of Louisville; two sisters, Mrs Catherine Lisenbe of Meridian and Mrs Bobbie Busby of Tallahassee, Fla; a brother, Hosea Kemp of Noxapater and four grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers were Jimmy Kemp, Lucky Lisenbe, Benny Roy Rogers, Randy Kemp, Benny Alton Reed and Bernice Rogers.

MILDRED M BAXTER

Funeral Services for Mildred Moreen Rogers Baxter, 76, were held October 6 at the Westbrook Chapel with the Rev Rommy Jones and Rev Jim Branscum officiating. Burial was held in the Good Hope Cemetery under the direction of Westbrook Funeral Home.
Mrs Baxter, a native of Winston county, died October 4 at the Tri-County Nursing Home. She was a Practical Nurse and a housewife and a member of Harmony Baptist Church.
She is survived by her mother, Mrs Rena Arrington Rogers of Louisville; two daughters, Mrs Norma Jean Damerson of Smyra, GA and Mrs Carolyn Byrd of Griffin, GA; a sister, Mrs. Halbert Reed of Louisville; two brothers, Reginald Rogers and Quinton Rogers, both of Louisville; five grandchildren, one great grandchild and one step-great grandchild.
Pallbearers were Wendell Rogers, Chip Dameron, david Dameron, Hershel Rogers, Byron Smith and Ronald Rogers.
