Squire BLEVINS was born abt 1803 in Kentucky according to the 1850 census and in North Carolina according to the 1860 census. He was most likely the son of Richard BLEVINS. "Black" Squire and Richard BLEVINS were part of the "Old Settler" migration in the late 1820's and early 1830's. Squire and Richard BLEVINS were on an 1829 Cherokee Immigration List to Nickajack, AL. They were in Cape Girardeau Co, MO in 1830 and in Izard Co, AR by 1832. They are referred to in Carroll County History as part of the "half breed Cherokee" community. He was known as "Black Squire" because of his indian blood and dark complexion. This distinguished him from another Squire BLEVINS of about the same age. He was a farmer in the 1850 census in Carroll Co, AR. He died before 1860 in Carroll Co, AR.
