Samuel Wiley ARRINGTON Sr was born between 1810 and 1817 in NC. He was a carpenter in 1860 in Winston Co, MS. He served in the military in 1862/63. He died on 1 Feb 1863 in the Alton Confederate Prison Camp, Madison Co, IL from variola (smallpox). There was an epidemic of smallpox in the prison camp. The Union officers were unable to locate a building to serve as a hospital and they were forced to establish the hospital on Alton Island in tents. He was buried in Feb 1863 in the North Alton Confederate Cemetery, Alton, Madison Co, IL.
He was married first to Louise HIGHTOWER on 25 Jun 1843 in NC. Louise HIGHTOWER was born on 28 Oct 1818. She died in 1857.

He was married to Frances Elizabeth Lloyd "Fannie" MINOR (daughter of William MINOR and Elizabeth WATKINS) on 19 Oct 1871. Frances Elizabeth Loyd MINOR was born on 20 Nov 1850 in MS. She died on 1 Aug 1940 in Winston Co, MS. She was buried on 2 Aug 1940 in the Good Hope Cemetery, Winston Co, MS.
