Hillbilly Poetry (B*G)

Many many years ago
when I was twenty three,
I got married to a widow
who was pretty as could be.

This widow had a grown-up daughter
Who had hair of red.
My father fell in love with her,
And soon the two were wed.

This made my dad my son-in-law
And changed my very life.
My daughter was my mother,
For she was my father's wife.

To complicate the matters worse,
Although it brought me joy,
I soon became the father
Of a bouncing baby boy.

My little baby then became
A brother-in-law to dad.
And so became my uncle,
Though it made me very sad.

For if he was my uncle,
Then that also made him brother
To the widow's grown-up daughter
Who, of course, was my step-mother.

Father's wife then had a son,
Who kept them on the run.
And he became my grandson,
For he was my daughter's son.

My wife is now my mother's mother
And it makes me blue.
Because, although she is my wife,
She's my grandmother too.

If my wife is my grandmother,
Then I am her grandchild.
And every time I think of it,
It simply drives me wild.

For now I have become
The strangest case you ever saw.
As the husband of my grandmother,
I am my own grandpa!

Hello Everyone and welcome to our families homepages. My sister Sherry has been researching our family names for about 7 years now and we have over 1,000 names. I lasted in the research field for about 2 years, Sherry tells me I have NO patience for research and I have to agree. I don't want to wait 6-7 weeks for a birth certificate and then its not the right one. I dont' want to follow a name for months only to find out it's not ours. I don't want to drive across the Bay Bridge (30 miles at least) once a month to look at rolls of film (which you need a magnifying glass to read the names). I dont' want to figure out that, if my grandmother was born in 1900, hopefully her mother was born oh, about 1880, so then her mother was hopefully born about......... I don't want to look for it and I want it now!! Ha Ha I think folks we have finally came to an agreement, Sherry is without a doubt a researcher (she has the patience for it) and I am computer! So if you all have a match and need to confirm or have a research question e-mail Sherry If you see an error/misspelled name, any comments or suggestion about our homepages e-mail Sheila
