Some of our fondest memories is of playing kick the can on our farm in Knoxville, Tennessee with our brothers and cousins and other family and freinds. Other memories are of making snow ice cream and making our own sleds and bikes. Playing waitress... like our Mommy for our freinds and family ,,using starburst wrappers as play money. Making our own swings out of tire tubes, Sewing, swimming and playing Ken and Barbie with freinds . And much to our Mothers Horror,, mopping the floor with our youngest sister Roberta..( Berta Loved it!!)

A GARDEN AS REMEMBRANCES OF THINGS PAST........Gardens like songs, are a treasure trove of memories. (Whether it be of Flowers or Veggies.)

Similar to a song that brings back fond memories so does a simple flower . A lily of the valley brings back the memory of a brooch, of LILIES OF THE VALLEY, my mother's mother wore . My mother held it in her hand one day, remembering her fond memories of her mother , gave it to me for safe keeping and to this day when I see a a lily of the valley I think of my Nanna. .

The lure to such memories is irresistible one reporter (Diana Rathbone) wrote in the San Francisco newspaper....Whisked back to her child hood dressed in her Easter Frock....as she remembers a lily of the valley HER mothers favorite flower. She also tells of how their family went on an annual picnic in the spring to PICK PRIMROSES ,,she to this day,,plants primroses in her garden. WHAT MEMORIES ARE YOU PLANTING?

WE LOVED GARDENING.....

with our mother,, she would get cow manure from our Uncle Bill . He had the best Cow and Chicken mix and she would show us how to break it up with our hands and til it under . We had the best Corn, Tomatoes and Green Beans,, Add alittle bread and butter and we had a meal! Or add just a dash of Sugar to one of our homegrown tomatoes just out of the garden and it was great! the flowers and green grass of Tennessee is unbeatable. the smell of the air sets me heart a flutering. Sheila loves the country and computers so just give her the Townsquare! She wants it all !! Most of our families live near the San Francisco Bay . They love the closeness of the shopping malls and people, business it all is nice and close to them. ,,,,,Fresh Air and Horses is where you'll find Sissy ,, riding in the Heat of the Calif, Farmlands and valley.
