SUZI Q'S KID'S EASTER CRAFT PROJECTS

COTTON BALL EASTER EGG

Paige did this in preschool

Supplies needed:
81/2x11 white construction paper
Pastel colored cotton balls
Child safe scissors
Elmers glue or some type of stick glue

Take the construction paper and fold it in half length wise. Take your scissors and cut out a half oval shape along the non folded edge, making sure that one end is cut a little flat (oval at the top, flat/straight on the bottom), you can draw it out with a pencil first to help with the cutting. Open your paper and it should look like an egg (this is similar to cutting out a valentine heart). Put glue on section of the egg and apply various colored cotton balls, continue until the entire egg is covered. For the more creative one, try putting the colored cotton balls on in some type of pattern. Let dry and hang on wall or refrigerator for all to see!!!!

EASTER BUNNY TREAT BAG

Supplies needed:
White paper bag (about the size of a lunch bag)
Yellow or pastel colored pompon
Crayons or markers
Child safe scissors
Elmers glue or some type of stick glue
Stapler

Lay paper bag flat and cut out two ears for the bunny (see picture above for guide). Only cut half way down the bag. Take stapler and staple the top of each ear. Have child decorate the front side of his/her bunny, giving him eyes, nose and a mouth (see picture above). Turn on backside (note the back of the bag is where it comes together with the fold) and glue pompon on for his tail. When dry carefully open bag, while being careful not to pull the staples apart at the top of the ears. Fill bag with Easter grass and your favorite candy.

EASTER CANDLE EGGS

PARENT SUPERVISION IS A MUST WITH THIS ONE

Supplies needed:
Eggs (not hard boiled)
Sharp Nail or Pin
Old Candles or Parafin Wax
Wicks
Glitter, Metallic confetti, Small Dried flowers
Old Crayons

Hollow out several eggs by gently poking a small hole in one end of each egg. Rinse clean and set the eggshell in the egg carton to allow egg to COMPLETELY DRY (It has to be dry before filling). Melt some old candles or paraffin wax and wax coloring in a double boiler over low heat. Place a funnel over the opening of the egg and carefully pour wax into the hollow eggshell in the carton. When the eggshell is full, insert a wired wick into the egg, centering it with a piece of tape for support. Allow the wax to cool and harden, then break off the shell and buff the candle with a soft rag or piece of old nylon. Heat the bottom end of the candle to soften, then press on a flat surface to make it stand up, or use a candle holder. Variations: You can use several different colors of wax, layering them. Let them cool between colors. Add glitter or metallic confetti to make the egg sparkle. You can also add pieces of dried flowers to wax. Color the wax with old color crayons instead of buying wax coloring.

EASTER EGG PUZZLES

Thanks to Terri Wilson for this one

Supplies needed:
Construction Paper
Child safe scissors
Stapler

Makes a few at a time. Layer three or four pieces of construction paper; different colors. Staple at corners to hold it together while you cut. Cut out a large egg shape from all the pieces at once. Continue to hold them all together while you cut a zig zag across the top 1/3 or so. Do a different pattern of cutting to make another layer. And another. It works best if you have as many cuts as you have different colors. By laying the pieces out on the table your child can assemble the egg shape from different colors making an Easter egg pattern.
