Cinnamon Ornaments
1 C. Applesauce 1 C. Cinnamon Non-stick cooking spray
Parental help is needed with this for the younger kids. Please note this project takes a long time, lots of drying and baking time.
Mix applesauce with cinnamon in a large bowl. Knead to make a stiff dough. Leave uncovered for one to two hours; knead again. Sprinkle cutting board and rolling pin with cinnamon and roll out dough to 1/4 inch thick. Place pattern on dough and cut around edges with sharp knife (cookie cutters work great for this). Use skewer to punch a hole through center top of each ornament. Lightly spray cookie sheet with non-stick cooking spray. Place hearts on cookie sheet. Reroll excess dough and continue to cut hearts until all dough has been used. Bake in 150 degree oven for approximately three hours. Remove and cool on flat, dry surface.
