My husband's Allwoods are originally from Lincolnshire, England, and I have a page dedicated to the family and the village they lived in and around for over 200 years - Allwoods of Wellingore, Lincolnshire
The furthest ALLWOOD we have managed to trace was William ALLWOOD who was 87 years old and living in Wellingore at the time of the 1861 census - making his birth about 1774. Unfortunately, we don't seem to be able to find a baptism for him in Wellingore (where he said he was born, when the census was taken). However, the entry in the Wellingore Parish Register indicates he was living in Kirton in Holland, at the time of his marriage to Catherine Pridgeon, on 22nd December, 1804 - maybe he was born there.
The following are details of people who, like me, are researching the Alwood/Allwood name.
Sue Cline - also researching in ALLWOODs in Lincolnshire - in fact Sue and my husband have a common ancestry - they are third cousins! Visit Sue's web site.
Dave Ogden - also researching in Lincolnshire. Dave's family married Allwood ladies on two occasions: An OGDEN married Ann ALLWOOD (not one of mine, as far as I know) in Boothby Graffoe in 1811. Another of Dave's ancestors, George BAKER Married Marianne/Mary Ann ALLWOOD in Wellingore on 24th June 1865 in Wellingore.
Eric Johnson - researching a line which goes back to William ALWOOD, bap. 2nd Dec 1764 in Nottingham. He married Elizabeth FEATHERSTON on 6th Sept 1785 in Epperstone, NTT.
Sue Rand - also researching around Nottingham, this time a line which goes back to John ALLWOOD, born in 1706 in Gunthorpe, NTT. Sue's areas of research also include: Lowdham, Newton, Oxton, Shelford and Widmerpool - all in Nottinghamshire.
Tom Allwood - looking for the birthplace of his ancestor, William ALLWOOD, born in 1728 and buried in Acton, Cheshire.
Andy Rohrbach - only has information on one ALLWOOD: Anne ALLWOOD - born abt. 1603 of Salisbury, Wilts, England - married abt 1613 to Rev. Peter THATCHER of Queen Camel, Somerset, England - died 23 Mar. 1634 Salisbury, Wilts, England - buried 26 Mar. 1634 St. Edmund's Church, Salisbury, England.
Jackie Hanna has a page called The Alwood Family Tree. Jackie's page is devoted to the descendents of yet another William ALLWOOD(ALWOOD) who emigrated to America from England 'sometime around 1770'.
I'd like to include as many people researching the ALLWOOD name as possible, so let me know if you'd like your details included on this page.
