I find the research very interesting. There are several that came from England. Thomas Moreman was born in England and his father was John Moreman. (I think) Early 1700's Went to Maryland. Lydall Bacon m Mary Allen. Sir Thomas Lidell was a Knight from Newcastle, 12-8-1621. Jane Clavering, 1690 was his wife. Her father was James Clavering, 1660. I have Rabensworth written on this paper--no meaning. Lidell was the 8th Baron, Eng?

Val, what a great little site you have, and pretty easy to find for someone searching the Allwood name. I would dearly love to solve the UK connection of my G/Grandfather, John Allwood who came with an unknown brother in late 1800's. There are various sto ies, one being that he and his brother jumped ship in New Zealand; another that he and his brother emigrated here with an Aunt (Ann Allwood).Originally from either Sheffield or Chesterfield, probably from a mining family, and with a reference to a near re ative in the Indian campagne (a Captain we were told). Not much to go on but some kind visitor to your site may see a connection.(John seems to be a generational name.)
