The Man in the Glass

When you get what you want in the struggle of self and the world makes you king for a day. Just go to a mirror and look at yourself, and see what that man has to say.

For it isn't your father or mother or wife who judgement upon you must pass; The fellow whose verdict counts most in your life is the one staring back from the glass.

Some people may think you a straight shootin’ chum and call you a wonderful guy. But the man in the glass says you're only a bum if you can’t look him straight in the eye.

He's the fellow to please, never mind all the rest for he’s with you clear up to the end, And you've passed your most dangerous difficult test if the man in the glass is your friend.

You may fool the whole world down the pathway of years and get pats on the back as you pass. But your final reward will be heartaches and tears if you've cheated the man in the glass.

I Didn't Have Time

I got up early one morning and rushed right into the day:

I had so much to accomplish that I didn't have time to pray.

Problems just tumbled about me and heavier came each task;

"Why doesn't God help me," I wondered.

He answered, "You didn't ask."

I wanted to see joy and beauty but the day toiled on, gray and bleak

I wondered why God didn't show me

He said, "But you didn't seek."

I tried to come into Gods presence;

I used all my keys at the lock.

God gently and lovingly chided,

"My child, you didn't knock."

I woke up early this morning and paused before entering the day.

I had so much to accomplish that I had to take time to pray.

"Reflections"

I look into the mirrow and what do I see?

A reflection of things that are yet to be.

The future's there as is the past.

The present is fleeting not meant to last

So who is this person that I see?

I have to wonder is it me.

So as I stare and wonder why,

I see a tear forming in my eye.

Heavens no that cannot be,

a tear coming from me?

But alas this tough exterior cannot hide,

from the reflection on the other side.
