The Touch of the Masters Hand
It was battered and scarred and the auctioneer thought it scarcely worth
his while. To waste his time on the old violin, but he held it up with a smile.
"What am I bid, good people," he cried " who starts the bidding
for me? One dollar? One dollar. Do I hear two? Two dollars who makes it three?
Three dollars once, three dollars twice going for three" but no! From the
room, far back, a gray-bearded man came forward and picked up the bow. Then
wiping the dust from the old violin, and tightening up the strings, he played a
melody, pure and sweet, as sweet as the angel sings. The music ceased, and the
auctioneer with a voice that was quiet and low said, "What now am I bid for
this old violin?" as he held it aloft with it's bow.
"One thousand? One thousand, do I hear two? Two thousand. Who makes it
three? Three thousand once, three thousand twice, going and gone!" said he.
The audience cheered, but some of the cried, "We just don't understand.
What changed it's worth?" Swift came the reply, "The touch of the
masters hand." And many a man, with life out of tune, all battered with
bourbon and gin, is auctioned cheap, to a thoughtless crowd, much like that old
violin. A mess of pottage, a glass of wine, a game. And the he travels on. He is
going once, he is going twice, and almost gone. But the Master comes and the
foolish crowd never can be quiet understand, the worth of a soul, the change
that is wrought, by the Touch of the Masters Hand.
A Winners Creed
If you think you are beaten, you are.
If you think you dare not, you don't.
If you'd like to win but think you can’t, it's almost a cinch you
won't.
If you think you’ll lose, you're lost.
For out in the world we find
Success begins with a persons will,
It's all in a state of mind.
Lifes battles don't always go to the stronger or faster hand;
But sooner or later the person who wins
Is the one who thinks "I can."
Murphy’s Law
When nothing can go wrong, it will.
Nothing is ever as easy as it seems.
Everything costs more than you have and takes longer.
If you try to please everybody, somebody won't like it.
It's easier to get into a thing then out of it.
Whatever you really want to do, you’ll have to do something else.
Day to Day
Go along getting the most out of life on a day-to-day basis.
Don't worry about tomorrow, and don't care about what happened yesterday.
Once you start thinking about life and it's problems, and begin worrying
over the future or regretting the past, you're likely to become confused about
today.
If a person does their well and extracts all they can from the present,
they'll have as happy a life as they are suppose to have.
