Probably on Scholarship. As a foreigner, He was ineligible to serve in Russian forces during WWI. Rachel and William met while at The University of St. Petersburg.

William Wallace was the name of the Scottish hero played by Mel Gibson in Braveheart. He undoubtably was named after the hero.

Sara and Louis were brought to New York City in late 1927 by their mother when she discovered she had incurable cancer. Unable to directly emigrate, They entered the US by way of Canada (probably due to their father being a Canadian citizen). They were placed in homes of relatives (‘Louis’ (now known as Bill) in the care of John Edison and Dr. Naomi (Em) Viscardi, M.D.: Em being Rachel’s younger sister). Dr. John Viscardi had a PhD in Engineering and participated in the Manhattan Project as a protege of Enrico Fermi. Em was a medical doctor, one of the first women to graduate from medical school in New York, practicing medicine for over 50 years. She served at one time as Head of Obstretics & Pediatrics for New York Board of Health. She was cited by AMA for 50 years of service. John was similarly cited by ASME.

He was awarded the number 1 small hardware businessman in Ohio in 1940. He was a happy and generous family man, known for his surprises and jokes and was always the life of the party. He strummed a ukulele. He was active in the community, was a voluntter fireman, and benevolent businessman.

graduated Wittenberg University (Springfield, Ohio) in 1922. She was the first Alma Matra Queen at Wittenburg in 1921 and honored again in 1971 at the 50th annivesary. She was very active in the community and in the Presbyterian Church, a vocalist and a full time mother and wife, a life long alumnus of Alpha Xi Delta and the New Carlisle Progress Club. She taught her daughters the Greek alphabet when they were 4 years old. This started a Morris tradition, as the next twwo generations have taught their little ones as well!!
