What a neat idea.

I don't do surgery, sorry.

I think it's like jazz.  I'm not sure I can explain it, but I know it when I hear it.  You have to try them on for sighs.

> For example:
> Define the following:

> *sigh*
my favorite sigh.  right there in the stars
> ~sigh~
the poetic sigh, 'ah winged flight of breath' etc
> SIGH
               big sigh, no frills
>          {sigh}
in curlicue brackets, the basic baroque sigh
> (SIGH)
(such a sad sigh, so big and so silent)
> -sigh-
on balance, not a bad sigh, not a good sigh
> [sigh]
for presents--already boxed for small occasions
> *SIGH*
               the cosmic big sigh
> ~SIGH~
this is too poetic for words
> sigh
               your basic, all-purpose sigh
>          {SIGH}
the sigh to give when everything's baroque
> (sigh)
(silent sigh.   can you hear me??   I thought not.)
> -SIGH-
the big sigh that comes with guide pins
> [SIGH]
ah, such presents--when you need large economy sighs

> then there are
> *big sigh*
> *dreamy sigh*

what's NOS?

I've also seen *si* when litels are out-sighed.

I'm not sure a dictionary is much help in these matters.
I think you have to shrug your shoulders and develop a
feel as you see which sighs fit you.  Perhaps a mirror would
help?

Does anybody know the URL for a sigh dictionary that's on the web?
This is so important somebody must have already studied it in
much detail complete with bibliography.

I haven't screamed since I took my car off the road.
